UAS7 Study and Internship Program (SIP) - Overview

• Study 1 semester at a UAS, then intern 3-6 months at a) a company or organization, or b) a research lab on a UAS7 campus

• Option a) Students apply for internship while studying; UAS provides search support; Option b) Lab internship placement happens upon acceptance in program

• Application Deadline: February 15 each year• Duration / Start: September, October (Study Semester) /

March (3-6 months internship at lab or company/organization)

Eligibility Requirements

Study & Internship Program (SIP) Internship Program (IP)

Full-time undergraduate student currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited U.S. or Canadian college

Intermediate German skills (B1), a) if courses will be taken in Germanand b) if internship will be at company / organization

Degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university

Sufficient English fluency to function in an international scientific work environment


All applicants are automatically considered for 1000 € UAS7 Travel Scholarship OR DAAD full scholarship (monthly stipend & travel expenses)

Waived tuition at UAS7

Access to affordable language courses before and during the semester

Access to services for visiting/exchange students (e.g. housing support, cultural excursions, social activities, mentoring)

All applicants are automatically considered for 1000 € UAS7 Travel Scholarship

Waived tuition at UAS7

Internship placement

1 Faculty Letter of Recommendation (must be sent by issuing professor/supervisor as scanned pdf attachment of a signed letter on university letterhead from his/her official university email account; should not be cc'd to the applicant)

Official Transcript (must be received by postal mail in an envelope sealed by the issuing Registrar)


What makes a competitive SIP and/or IP application?

• Strategic selection of Study and/or Internship Options (mark 2-3 choices of host UAS / lab internships on Study and/or Internship Plan)

• Strong Statement of Motivation explaining choices made on Study and Internship Plan (SIP), or Internship Plan (IP)

• Strong recommendation letter; properly briefed recommender

• Strong academic track record

• German proficiency (mostly not required, but helpful)

• On time: Next Deadline SIP and IP is February 15, 2015
