About Medway Grid for Learning (MGfL)

The Medway Grid for Learning (MGfL) is a secure private network connecting school local area networks (LAN) to the Medway Council network. This enables schools to connect with each other and access a number of services they would otherwise need to purchase and manage independently.

In partnership with its Managed Service provider, Atomwide, an MGfL connection provides a school with the following services:

Firewalls An MGfL connection includes the provision and on-going management and support of a local firewall device to help protect schools from malicious attacks over the internet.

Saving time and hassle, USOSync synchronises the USO database with your school’s local Active Directory further removing another set of login details to have to remember. USOSync can also synchronise USO with your Microsoft 365 or Google accounts allowing even greater consistency in usernames and passwords.

When parents have downloaded the ParentComms:Mobile app, staff can then use it to communicate simply and cost-effectively to parents on a range of issues.
