Introduction

Thank you for your interest in our Close Protection Training Program/Tactical Parachute/Tactical Fire Arms Course

Today we are presenting TORCUSS to you; this stands for Tactical Operational Reconnaissance Combined Security Specialist this is the first specialist

training where the candidate will become a top of the range No1 not to be copied bests of the best equivalent to worldwide Special Forces training

‘OPERATOR’.

Our new courses are accredited on a worldwide standard and therefore it is recognized anywhere in the world, we have put together different packages

for different needs, this works on a selection based assessment where candidates will be evaluated on physical, sociological and emotional aspects, we

will use this evaluation to show us where each candidate exceeds or need training, the training is done on PLP (prior learning program) which is both

We have already established a well bonded connection with potential worldwide clients who are in need of Close Protection Specialist (Torcuss) like OSS

Our Elite Reaction Task Force is one of the first in South Africa and was created to fight Farm Murders, since its start we have successfully completed 2

operations in the Free State and Northern Province, saving one farmer and his family from possible harm or maybe death. Out of this we were able to

establish a contract in Africa (Congo) to supply security to convoys, getting their vehicles from Saudi Arabia to the newly build camps in the Congo, this

is a 3 months contract, but will result in a more permanent contract if we complete the mission with great success, and we will, our motto is ‘We will

Succeed’.

We have 11 positions for the first group leaving SA from as early as 30 August 2010, but for this we do need to evaluate you in your skills as a PSD/CPO

Operator, we do however require from our permanent Torcuss SA Staff to complete full training programs like Tactical Fire Arms and Tactical

Parachuting training, but for this contract we require you to complete the selection/evaluation day.

Our Salary package is between $ 7000 – 9500 p/m and includes board and lodging while on contract and airfare to and from the camp we will stay in. A

Valid passport and the necessary medical requirements (chest x-ray, yellow fever and malaria) is your own responsibility.

useful hints on preparation, accommodation, travel and clothing.

The Course

We intend providing you with a Close Protection Officer (CPO) or Personal Protection Detail (PSD) Course catering

specifically for Commercial small team operations and due to its multi disciplined nature it is also highly relevant to a host

of security applications ranging from high to low risk applications.

You must be fluent in both written and spoken English.

You hold a Grade 10\ 0 levels or equivalent school leaver’s or certificate (If you don’t have this please contact us).

You are between 21 and 45 [Flexible on Application]

You have had a Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis in inoculations.

You hold a current valid driver’s license in your country free of restrictions

You hold a valid Foreign Passport/ SA Identity Book.

You have the necessary travel and medical insurance for the duration of the course.

You have an original criminal clearance certificate from your home country

You are in possession of 2 banks deposit slips showing both your deposit and final payment of all monies due to

Torcuss SA for your course.

Criminal Clearance Certificate

Your Original criminal clearance certificate must be presented on your arrival at the training center in Johannesburg.

A criminal record does not automatically exclude you from attending our training course, however you will not be eligible

to attend our course should you not be in possession of your original criminal clearance certificate or should you have

been, convicted within the last 5 years, of crime pertaining to:

Theft & kindred Offences

Offences relation to Dishonesty [e.g. Fraud]

Certain Offences Against the person [Murder \ Rape \ Indecent Assault \ pedophilia \ Assault with intent to do

Grievous Bodily Harm]

Driving under the Influence of alcohol or Substances having a Narcotic Effect; or any other criminal offence which

excludes your activities within the security industry within your home country

This does not mean we will not accept you this will go under review and a board of security directors will have the final

decision on your course acceptance.

Physical Attributes

We would also suggest that you note that there are physical requirements in order to graduate on the Torcuss SA course.

There are based on a physical fitness evaluation used by our special force but which is fair to all types of physique and

relevant to Close Protection. Your physical condition will be measured and integrated into your course report. In order to

pass the Torcuss SA course you will be required to attain 30% overall and certain sub minima featured below.

Run 2.4 km in a minimum of 16 min

Do a minimum of 1 pull-up in 1 minute

Do a minimum of 35 sit ups in 2 min

Do a minimum of 25 pushups in 2 min

Do ten 25 m shuttle runs in under 72 sec

Your total including the above mentioned minima must exceed 30%

Should you not be able to attain a minimum of 20% overall physical fitness Test upon your arrival on the course then you

will face summery disqualification from attending that particular course without refund in any way shape or form.

This policy is firmly in place and subject to no exception due to the significant risk of injury to the student and the fact that

you would not have been accepted by as into the course should you have more accurately divulged your actual physical

fitness as being below 20% on your application form to us. This is done for your and our protection as a result of the

physical nature the training program despite the presences of rigorous safety standards.

Travel

You air travel to Johannesburg (Oliver Tambo) International Airport is for your arrangement and account directly. Please

arrive no later 16h00 on the Day before the course starts and leave no later than 17h00 on the day after it finishes. We will

take care of your transfer to and from Johannesburg International. A representative will meet you at Johannesburg

International Airport on your arrival holding a Torcuss SA placard.

Accommodation & Meals

We can arrange and pay for your accommodation which will be on a bed, basis and lunch and dinner basis. Your

accommodation commences on the day preceding the course and terminates on the morning after the course. Any

accommodation outside of these parameters will be for your own account directly. Two meals per day will be taken care of.

Tuition Method

The course is not an attendance course and as such you will undergo both practical & theoretical assessment at various

times during the course. The course consists of weekly modules which are concluded with formative assessments and

culminant in week 1 with a summative assessment. Should you not pass up two modules, you will receive an opportunity

to remedial each, thereafter you will need to return to redo that module at reduced rate on another occasion and graduate

later. You will permitted to proceed into subsequent modules on your course in the interim but not be allowed to challenge

the summative assessment [PSIRA licensing test] until you return to successfully complete all of the required modules,

fitness assessments or selection criteria.

PowerPoint presentations are given and given and students are initially supplied with writing materials and workbook to

guide them through the curriculum.

Course Structure

The course is 3 weeks (21 – 26 days) long, for details on individual days activities please refer to the attached block

program.

Dress

Students should be in possession of:

Two rugby jerseys, two pairs of denim pants, trainers (Unarmed Combat Training)

Wet weather gear, proper boots, t-shirt/s, long bush pants (cammo, jeans etc), water bottle, knife, hat/cap, short

pants, COMFORTABLE SHOES, jacket, sun block, insect repellent, sleeping bag, changes of socks as you require,

running shoes and old clothes for mocking paintball exercises. (Any other item you personally require)

A light jacket / waistcoat to conceal weapons whilst not in formal attire.

Normal dress for course for at least 3 weeks

Please bear in mind that South Africa has diverse climate and such is advised that you pack for all seasons.

Theoretical training is conducted at our facility in Johannesburg, South Africa. Practical training is conducted at other

locations such as.

Transport both to and from these facilities is provided by our organization and included in the course fee.

Training Dates

your deposit well in advance to secure your place on the course with us.

This due in part to the popularity of the course as well as the fact that we only accept 8 – 10 people per course in the

interests of quality training via good instructor / student ratios.

We provide you with the all necessary weapons for the course.

We request that you try to obtain your own ear and eye protection for reasons of both hygiene and comfort for range work

Cancellation and Postponement Policy

The deposit of 50% is fully refundable if we postpone your course in a way that it cannot commence in a period of 6

months for any reason from our side, but it is not refundable on your cancellation or postponement of your course in this

case you can still partake in later date training.

Torcuss SA reserves the right not to, regardless of PSIRA/SASSETA Curriculum and or selection requirements, allow any

student to sit the theory assessment and or to sign off any student regarding the practical assessment-until the student has

met all of Torcuss SA selection criteria as well as all the Torcuss SA theory & practical requirements of the Torcuss Close

Legal Agreement

THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE AGREEMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Torcuss SA reserves the right not to, regardless of the PSIRA/SESETA Curriculum and / or selection requirements, allow any student to sit out theory assessment and / or to sign off any student regarding the PSIRA/SESETA practical

assessment - until the student has met all of Torcuss SA’s selection criteria as well as all the theory & practical requirements of the Torcuss SA Close Protection Course. (E.g. Fitness / Driving / CQC /SWAT Modules)

I, the undersigned student, am aware of the dangers inherent in Close Protection Training. Said dangers include but are not limited to the following and same do not limit the generality of the aforementioned in any way:

•Full Contact Close Quarter Combat Training

•Taser Electrical Weapon (Electrical Contact) Training

•Blunt, Edged, Chemical, Paintball and live Tactical Firearms Training

•Anti Ambush Driving (Skid Pan and Raceway)

•Paramedical (Active Response Car/Ambulance duty in SA Townships / HIV & Hepatitis B)

•Transit Protective Details

•Static Protective Details

•Conflict Management

•Applicable Legal Concepts

•Psychological Damage (Death of Medical and Trauma Casualties)

•As well as any subject appearing on the course roster received by me or mixture of the above curricula or any addition thereto.

I understand that I will not be required to take part in any section of training, full contact or otherwise, should I not wish to do so AND have expressed this wish to my instructor at the time of said training activity.

I, the undersigned student, acknowledge that the USUAL RISKS have been explained to me but I accept that unforeseen risks may still exist. I assume full responsibility for these risks both explained and unforeseen and will not hold the members of Torcuss SA in their personal or juristic capacities, instructors affiliated to Torcuss SA, any fellow

student, nor Torcuss SA itself liable for any injury sustained to me nor my death as a result of training, be it FULL CONTACT OR OTHERWISE. I furthermore deem this clause to be binding on the executors of my estate.

I, the undersigned student, undertake to make my instructor aware of any medical condition or relevant medical history that may exist which will have a bearing upon his teaching methods prior to, and if needs be, again at any

relevant stage during my training. Furthermore, I warrantee that I am sufficiently physically fit to undergo the training course at hand, i.e. achieving a minimum of 30% including satisfying all subminimum on the Standard Torcuss SA

Fitness Assessment, of which a copy was provided to me as part of my application process. I understand that I may be asked to leave the course subject to no refund for safety reasons should my fitness level be below the minimum requirement. I understand that this is due to the fact that I have already stated that I am over the required minimum fitness level in my application pack and was accepted onto the course as a result of my statement and there is not sufficient time or opportunity for Torcuss SA to re-sell my place. Furthermore if I am over 45 of age I will furnish a

medical certificate of physical fitness to the instructor prior to any training taking place.

5.

I, the undersigned student, warrantee that I have my own medical insurance covering me for the duration of my training, both during training hours and after-hours. I understand that Torcuss SA will not pay a shortfall for my

medical expenses it will be borne by my medical insurance which I have arranged. Should I not possess medical insurance, or it refuses to cover my medical expenses whilst on the Close Protection Training Programme, I will not

hold Torcuss SA accountable for any such short fall nor will I have any objection to being placed within a state medical facility, for the purposes of my care.

6.

I, the undersigned student, will should I be a minor [less than 21 years of age] have this agreement signed by my parent or assigned legal guardian.

7.

I, the undersigned student, consent to liability, in my personal capacity, regarding an excess of R5 000-00 to be paid by me to Torcuss SA regarding any damages sustained to any vehicle which I may drive or be responsible for during

my training. I hereby grant permission for my certification and results to be withheld until such time as I have settled all monies owing to Torcuss SA Furthermore, I accept full liability for all road traffic fines incurred by me whilst I am

driving a vehicle owned or rented by Torcuss SA. I hereby fully indemnify Torcuss SA and request that my details are furnished to the necessary authorities for the purposes of the re-issuing of summons to me.

8.

I, the undersigned student, accept that I am liable to Torcuss SA for my full course fee on the first training day. This amount is then payable and non-refundable. I hereby grant permission for my certification and results to be withheld

until such time as I have settled all monies owing to Torcuss SA

The deposit of 50% is fully refundable if we postpone your course in a way that it cannot commence in a period of 6 months for any reason from our side, but it is not refundable on your cancellation or postponement of your course in

this case you can still partake in later date training.

9.

I, the undersigned student, declare that I will not use the skills gained from the training provided by Torcuss SA or any of its affiliated instructors, on anyone unless such action is required by the common law of Necessity or in accordance

with the applicable Sections governing the provision of emergency medical care or the equivalent section and Act which may be in existence in that particular country.

I further declare that I am not a mercenary and that I do not intend using the training afforded by Torcuss SA in contravention of the relevant sections of the Prohibition of Mercenary Activities and Regulation of Certain Activities in

Country of Armed Conflict Act, 2006 i.e. for protecting the person or property of someone involved in an armed conflict in an area declared to be an armed conflict from time to time by the Minister.

I further declare that I have not got a criminal record in any country and have never been convicted of any crime in any country by a properly constituted court of law including martial tribunals. Should I indeed have a conviction, I have

divulged same to Torcuss SA prior to the commencement of training and have obtained condonation for same. Should I not hand in an original criminal background check containing all of my convictions or evidencing that I have none

then I accept that my certification and results can be withheld until such time as I do. I further accept that should there be further convictions which I did not get condonation for prior to the commencement of training then I will forfeit my

right to my results and certification.

10.

I, the undersigned student, undertake not to demonstrate nor teach the skills which have been taught to me by Torcuss SA or any of its affiliated instructors nor sell / donate the course materials or any other intellectual property obtained by me whilst undergoing my training with Torcuss SA, unless written permission to do so has been granted

by the members in their capacities as members of Torcuss SA, prior to the commencement of such instruction or sale or donation by me.

This clause applies to me in my personal capacity or any juristic persona by whom I may be employed or within which I may have a financial interest. This clause is binding within South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya,

Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States & the Middle East, as well as my country of origin or residency. This restraint clause is applicable for a time period of five years commencing from the date of signature of

this document.

I, the undersigned student, undertake to declare any weapons on my person to the instructor in attendance, upon entering the place of training, regardless of the fact that they may not be loaded.

I, the undersigned student, undertake not to carry any weapons inside the place of training unless I have the express permission of the instructor in attendance to do so AND I have performed the required safety procedures under the

supervision of the instructor.

I declare that I shall never bring any ammunition into the training environment at any time what so ever.

12.

I, the undersigned student, state that I will not use any non-prescription drugs at anytime during my course. Should I be using any prescription drug that might reasonably alter my mental and physical abilities I will inform my instructor that I am taking said medication prior to any training session. Furthermore, I state that I will not use any alcohol 24

hours prior to or during any scheduled training activities with Torcuss SA including rostered class time, paramedical shifts and or any other training time scheduled by prior agreement between me and the instructors.

Should I be found, in the opinion of two or more instructors to be under the influence of the above mentioned then I give my irrevocable permission to Torcuss SA to conduct the required testing of me via commercially available testing

equipment e.g. Breathalyzer. Should I refuse to be tested at the time, I accept that I can be excluded from training based on the opinion of the instructors alone.

Should the test, or in the absence of my permission to conduct the testing – the two instructors opinions, reveal that I am indeed under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any non-prescribed medication then I will accept that I will be excluded from training activities for 8 hours and that this may well effect the overall outcome of my course results

negatively. I accept full responsibility for these consequences of my actions in contravention of this section.

13.

I, the undersigned student, undertake to accept expulsion from the training course, subject to no refund, should I contravene the terms of this agreement, the rules pertaining to the accommodations provided by

Torcuss SA or act disrespectful towards the members, any affiliated instructor of

Torcuss SA, fellow student on my course or the public in general. I hereby acknowledge that Torcuss SA is the lawful occupier of the accommodation allocated for my use and as such I understand that representatives of Torcuss SA

may inspect the premises concerned for inappropriate use thereof at any time.

I accept that I will receive one warning for this type of behaviour and that I will sign for the receipt of same. Should a second contravention of this clause occur then I accept that this expulsion clause will apply and that I will be required to either leave the course or the accommodations or both and that I will not be entitled to any refund of course and or

accommodation fees whatsoever.

14.

I, the undersigned student, understand that I should not hesitate to ask any questions relevant to, and governing, my training with Torcuss SA or any instructors affiliated to Torcuss SA should I not understand OR accept any aspect or

aspects of my training activities.

15.

I, the undersigned student accept that should any part of this contract be found to be unenforceable then such portion of the contract shall be severable from the remainder which will retain all force and effect.

16.

Both parties consent to the jurisdiction of the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court in the event of a dispute even if the amount claimed is in excess of said court’s jurisdiction, and confirm that South African Law shall apply to this contract.

17.

Any concession made by either party to the terms and conditions set out here-in will not give rise to any on-going rights or duties and the conceding party will have right of recourse to the terms and conditions of this contract at all times. Notwithstanding, the foregoing no variation of this contract shall be binding on either party unless same has been reduced to writing and signed by both parties.

• We thank you for your patience and perseverance which is both attributes which will stand you in good stead on your course.

• You will receive an email regarding your acceptance onto our training program within 7 working days of your submission, deposit of your 50% course money and this application form. We will guide you with regard to arrangements pertaining to, transportation and registration on your course.

• Please ensure you have answered all fields honestly as you will be required to furnish evidence thereof at your registration.
