Message from Toronto Association of the Deaf (TAD)
Dear Friends,
TAD is pleased to extend our greetings to everyone participating in the TAD series of events during the International Week of the Deaf. We are very excited to partner with local, provincial and national consumer organizations and agencies who serve Deaf and hard of hearing consumers, family members, friends, employers, civil servants and elected ocials from all levels of government. This year, the theme of IWD 2015 is ‘With Sign Language Rights, Our Children Can!’ From 21 to 27 September, we will focus on sign language being a valid linguistic means of conveying thoughts, ideas and emotions. This fact has been accepted and enacted into Article 2 of the Convention of Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which denes sign languages as equal to spoken languages. Acquiring Sign Language is not an option, but clearly a human right. We are grateful to TD Bank for sponsoring the TAD series of events this year. We would like to get your feedback on this year’s events. You can contact me at [email protected] Sincerely,
Gary MalkowskiPresident
