ABOUT US CONTENTS

Melbourne College of Further Education (MCFE) is a division of iAscend Polytechnic Pty Ltd, RTO 21340.Our Registered Training Organisation was established in 2003 and has grown substantially since then. We deliver courses to International Students (CRICOS) and Australian students.

One of the major things that sets us apart from other international colleges is that we get to know every student, you will be more than just a number to us, you will be part of our family. MCFE has a number of industry partners and we have a dedicated team to build our employer networks for placements and employment opportunities for our students.

We are registered as a training organisation with Australian Skills and Qualifications Authority (ASQA). Our approved Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) registration number is 02961A.

Hello from MCFE

On behalf of all Melbourne College of Further Education staff, I would like to warmly welcome you to MCFE.

We are thrilled that you are considering studying with us. Our highly qualified and friendly staff will provide you quality teaching and lots of support throughout your studies, where possible we will even help you find work.

I enjoyed the practical activities in the class and our trainer was fantastic. Since completing the course, I have

been working in aged care and love this industry.

The school showed me how to help care for the elderly. The trainer was always happy to help and I really enjoyed

placement to put everything I learned into practice.

You should already have a general idea of what the city of Melbourne is like from pages 6 & 7 but now you need to know how to start planning your move down here. It could be overwhelming at first but we will assist in any way possible to ensure the move is a seamless transition. Accommodation

Home-stayHome-stay is a great way for international students to immerse themselves in Australian life, and benefit from the safety and supervision of adults. Meals are usually included in the cost, but self catering Home-stay is sometimes available. There are usually options for single or shared rooms. Institutions check that these families are reputable and offer accommodation at a reasonable standard. Hotels and Guest HousesHostels are usually run by organisations such as Youth Hostels Australia and the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). Students share kitchen and bathroom facilities. Shared and Rental AccommodationSharing off-campus accommodation is very popular with international students. You should look for advertisements on noticeboards around the city and local newspapers. Expect that you will have to provide your own furniture. When renting a house, apartment or bed sitter, landlords require rent to be paid in advance, and will require a security bond equal to one months’ rent.

You will be able to access more information to assist with living in Melbourne in our International Student Handbook.
