CARE Electronics

Advances in electronics have revolutionized the way in which we live and do business.

However, today’s technological advance and mass consumption has a subsequent impact on

the global environment. CARE Electronics (= Comprehensive Approach for the Recycling

and Eco-efficiency of Electronics) is a strategic initiative to understand the international and

national implications of sustainability for the electr(on)ics industry in the future.

CARE Electronics is an independent, industrial R&D network with members from large and

small companies and research organisations.

CARE Electronics

forecasts products, technologies, services & societal expectations

identifies and researches strategic issues

provides a platform for dialogue with government, business, academia and society,

initiates and supports a series of projects, which deliver sustainable solutions.

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 This 4-days event follows CARE INNOVATION´96 (Frankfurt, Germany), CARE

INNOVATION´98 (Vienna, Austria), Electronics Goes Green 2000+ (Berlin, Germany), CARE

INNOVATION 2002 (Vienna, Austria), Electronics Goes Green 2004+ (Berlin, Germany),

CARE INNOVATION 2006 (Vienna, Austria), Electronics Goes Green 2008+ (Berlin,

Germany), CARE INNOVATION 2010 (Vienna, Austria), Electronics Goes Green 2012+

(Berlin, Germany), CARE INNOVATION 2014 (Vienna, Austria) and Electronics Goes Green

2016+ (Berlin, Germany).

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 will return to Vienna for the 6th time in order to

continue the tradition as the world´s leading and most prominent congress on electr(on)ics

and the environment.

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 will address the following key questions:

How can we shift towards a circular economy?

What are the future trends in technologies, markets and sustainability?

Which changes are necessary in order to become a sustainable enterprise?

What is the status of implementation and what are the practical experiences with global legislation on electr(on)ics waste, hazardous substances and ecodesign around the globe?

The program will feature the latest in circular economy, environmental design, clean

manufacturing, resource efficiency, climate change, new eco-efficient technologies,

collection, reverse logistics, refurbishment, carbon trading, re-use, recycling and policy

making from leading experts in industry, academia, consulting, recyclers and public area

around the globe. Leading companies and institutions in green electr(on)ics will present their

innovative products, processes and services at the exhibition.

All companies in the electr(on)ics, telecom, automotive, solar and PV, chemical and recycling

industry, power suppliers, electricity generators and distributors, contract manufacturers,

material and component suppliers, service and logistic companies, collective systems,

academia, consulting and public authorities (local, regional, international) are invited to

attend and contribute.

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 International Symposium

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 is the only platform for presenting the up-to-date progress on circular economy and the development of resource-efficient electr(on)ic products and services. The International Symposium will compare the three major economic regions Europe, America and Asia with high level plenary speakers from global electr(on)ic and recycling companies, research institutes and environmental & consumer organizations.

Leading industrialists, research directors, environmental experts and scientists will analyze the current situation of producer responsibility, environmentally-friendly electr(on)ic & automotive product development, issues of resource scarcity and criticality, clean production, green marketing, logistics and End-of-Life strategies.

Through a wide-range of presentations it will be discussed how the electr(on)ic & automotive industry can contribute in the area of sustainable development in general, and which products, technologies and services will be needed in particular.

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 International Meeting Place

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 can provide individuals seeking business and/or

research partners as well as RTD funding.

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 Environmental Exhibition

Located directly within the conference area the exhibition is like a village market place:

central point for communication, presentation of new ideas and catering. Companies are

presenting their new products and services and research institutes are demonstrating their

latest results in electronics and the environment in a Vienna coffee house like atmosphere.

Take the opportunity and present your products and services to a forum of the world’s leading companies in electronics and the environment!

Going Green – CARE INNOVATION 2018 Technical Tour

In a world of fast-changing mobile devices many top-model phones and their enclosed,

valuable electronic components are reaching waste disposal sites. Besides the fact that

some components, including Lithium-Ion batteries, have to be extracted before the residual

fraction enters the shredders and furnaces, also disassembly plays a labour-intensive role in

the recycling business.

ProAutomation focuses its development on fully and semi-automatic disassembly machines to gain batteries and other valuable electronic components from disposed mobile devices. During the visit to ProAutomation you will be able to see a reconfigurable disassembly unit consisting of a collaborative robot and disassembly modules. Cameras are used to identify and grab mobile phones automatically. A robot and operator cooperatively disassemble phones and gain batteries and valuable PCBs before further processing it.

Places are limited! Special registration is necessary at https://register.eventcon.at/ci2018/event!

Reception by the Mayor of Vienna in the City Hall Tuesday, November 27, 2018 19.30

The Reception by the Mayor of Vienna will take place in the Vienna City Hall, one of the most splendid landmarks amongst the numerous monumental buildings along Vienna’s Ring Road. Designed by Friedrich Schmidt (1825 – 1891), it was erected between 1872 and 1883. The architecture of the Ringstraße is dominated by Historicism. The City Hall was built in Gothic style, with a tower similar to Gothic cathedrals.

Today the City Hall is the head office of Vienna’s municipal administration. More than 2000 people work in the building. Visitors are stunned by the magnificent appointments of the state rooms, which frequently provide an atmospheric backdrop to various events such as concerts or balls.

Dinner at a Historical Viennese Heuriger Wednesday, November 28, 2018 19.30

Three basements up to 18-m depth protect monuments of the history. The origins of the history go back till the Romanesque and Gothic, it was already mentioned 1339. The masonry of the well cellar, with his for the distinguished constructions of the Romanesque to typical stone ashlars, comes from the years around 1100.

The mainly Gothic arched upper cellar still comes from the time before 1500. After his desctruction in 1561 the house was rebuilt, the well cellar received his early- baroque curvature and the foundation-stone with the chiseled annual number 1561. In times of war, as well as during to Turk´s sieges of Viena (1529 and 1683) these underground floor served as shelter sides.

In the years 1716 -1721 the baroque facade was formed by Viennese Master builder from Lucas von Hildebrand, one nicest in Vienna which got the building the name Hildebrandthouse and stands under conversations of monuments and historic buildings.

Famous artists, poets and painters have appeared in the course of the years since the existence of the Twelve Apostel - cellar in 1952 here and the magic of the past years and the romanticism which breathe in this old vault in himself allow to work.
