The Headland Hotel, Newquay Stylish, elegant and unique, The Headland Hotel & Spa is a luxury hotel in Newquay with private cottages set on an exclusive clifftop overlooking Fistral beach. Offering the perfect blend of discreet English ambience and decadent hospitality, our individually designed luxury hotel rooms and suites with ocean views, rosette-worthy dining from Executive Chef Christopher Archambault, and indulgent pampering and wellness at our Cornwall hotel and Spa. All brought together by a team dedicated to ensuring a comfortable stay. The Headland is one of the most understated yet personal spa hotels in Cornwall.

A Coastal Epic:

The History of The Headland For over a century, The Headland has been the most iconic of Cornish Hotels. With its air of calm and easy-going ambience, you might never guess that our history is one of high drama and sabotage with a cast of extras ranging from Hollywood stars through to British Royalty! Right from the beginning, the owners of The Headland had lofty ambitions. The aim was to create a Victorian masterpiece to make every hotelier from Penzance to Portishead green with envy. The project began with opposition and even the odd arson attack from locals...

Riotous Beginnings Not everyone welcomed the idea of a new hotel in the late 19th Century. Local fishermen claimed that the site was common land where they had dried their nets for generations. Heated arguments ensued, workmen were threatened and on one fateful night, an angry mob even trashed the foundation walls and scaffolding before tipping the foreman’s hut into the Atlantic. The so-called Newquay Riots blazed on for some time. With the locals too intimidated to cross the fishermen, 200 out-of-work Cornish miners were drafted in to complete the project. Fires started, fines and arrests were made, and the developers even used traction engines armed with steam hoses to keep restless natives at bay!

SAUNTON SANDS HOTEL - NORTH DEVON There can only be a few family hotels anywhere in the world with such a spectacular setting as Saunton Sands Hotel in Devon. This fabulous four-star art deco hotel sits overlooking miles of pristine sands stretching as far as the eye can see, this hotel is in a class of its own and offers contemporary beachside living at its best. Loved by surfers and long boarders for the clean consistent waves, families for beachy fun, and walkers for the vast expanse of wild but wonderful dunes and its position right on the South West Coast path, this is a very special place. It’s not all about what’s going on outside though, as inside you’ll find a brand-new luxury Spa, Source Spa & Wellness smart

and contemporary furnishings, two AA Rosette standard cooking, two heated pools, state of the art gym and facilities

Golf Courses:

PERRANPORTH GOLF CLUB Located in Poldark country (BBC Series based on the books by Winston

Graham), on North Cornwall's dramatic Atlantic Coastline and overlooking Perran Bay, where sandy beach glistens and the aquamarine ocean sparkles. This natural links course, a James Braid design, features seven blind drives and numerous blind/semi-blind approach shots which makes for a challenging and round. Bring your A game as even the best golfers will be challenged to use every shot in the book. Probably one most underrated links courses in the South West of England but well worth the experience.

TREVOSE GOLF CLUB Across the Camel River from St Enodoc and over the majestic Trevose Head that juts into the Atlantic, Trevose Golf & Country Club offers a brilliant links that in 2008 staged the celebrated Brabazon Trophy and is hosting the inaugural European Legends Links Championship in 2019. Complete with holiday flats and bungalows, Trevose conjures a relaxed holiday atmosphere to go with its classic Harry Colt golf course. With only a gentle breeze the 6,863-yard Championship Course offers good scoring opportunities, particularly on some of the gentler inland holes, but the

character of the course is transformed as the winds blows in from the sea.

ST ENODOC GC Cornwall’s St Enodoc is another links once trodden, never forgotten. Founded in 1890 and designed by James Braid, it has a fantastic setting among the dunes overlooking the River Camel estuary and with far-reaching views over the Atlantic. The Church course, so called because of the Norman Church that was uncovered in the middle of the course, is renowned for its towering Himalaya bunker that entirely blocks golfers’ view of the 6th green from all but a slither of fairway. This is the tallest bunker in Europe. Over the past four years the course has benefited hugely from

refurbishments, including laying of new greens & tees.

SAUNTON GC – near Barnstaple Further down the Devon coast is Saunton, set in the remote shadows of the giant sand dunes of Braunton Burrows. When the club was inaugurated in 1893 its clubhouse doubled up as the local post office, yet now its two championship courses, East and West, are among the greatest links in the world. England’s most successful post-war golfer, Nick Faldo, has said, "I've no doubt if the East Course were located on the coast of Lancashire or Kent it would have hosted an Open Championship by now," although the West course is an exceptional challenge in its

own right and it is a mistake to consider it second best. It was here in 1997 that a 17-year-old Sergio Garcia won the British Boys Championship, just two years before making his Ryder Cup debut.

Premier Golf LLC is unequalled for golf tour quality and offer over 35 years of experience. You therefore benefit from the long-term relationships that we established many years ago. We have a full-time local team in your destination who personally know the local golf course managers, golf professionals, caddy masters, hoteliers, and restaurateurs. Staff members are always on call and keep in contact with you frequently during the trip. We do not use sub-contractors or destination management companies like most operators. We negotiate directly with the suppliers on your behalf and often get preferred tee times or reservations that are otherwise unavailable. Premier Golf LLC has been the Official Travel Supplier of the PGA of America and for many years has been a licensed distributor of Ryder Cup packages, The PGA Championship, The Bandon Dunes Resort, The Open and more. Premier Golf is a subsidiary of the $700+million Travel Incorporated of Duluth, GA. We are the largest and most secure golf tour operator in the USA. Great effort goes into our annual review of hotels, assuring you excellent, hand-picked accommodations. While there are less expensive versions, we believe that our selections will match your expectations. Room types are detailed in this document. Should you desire information on higher or lower priced options, please contact us on this specific matter. A Premier Golf staff representative will meet with you as you come out of customs, holding a Premier Golf placard sign with your group name on it. They will host a welcome cocktail to review driving directions, restaurant and sightseeing suggestions and provide you with detailed maps or additional travel tips. These Premier Golf professionals are always on call and their service is key to the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our clients. PRIVATE DRIVER: For a group of 2-4, one of our expert Driver-Guides and their luxury vehicles are the perfect solution for a full chauffeur experience. This is the most expensive mode of transportation, but your guide will be the ultimate service provider and they know the country, roads, history, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. This will maximize your experience and give you the ultimate in flexibility. The vehicles are luxury sedans or Mercedes / Ford Vans with comfortable chairs and sufficient luggage space.

TRANSFERS: In lieu of paying for a 24 hour motorcoach (plus driver wages, accommodation and meals), and paying for them to sit around while you are golfing or dining, many groups elect to hire a motorcoach and driver for golf, hotel and airport transfers only. This is less expensive than a full day charter yet often suffices for groups with a tighter budget. Extra transfers or tours can always be added onsite, but the savings over having a full time driver is often worth it!

MOTORCOACH: For a group of 8 or more, we highly recommend using a chauffeured motorcoach from arrival airport to departure. Our motorcoaches are various sizes to match the group, and have been customized with such amenities as reclining leather seats, card tables, ice chest or refrigerator, plugs for phones and computers, DVD video and CD music. We can also add in pre-stocked drinks and snacks. Our handpicked driver-guides are very helpful with sightseeing, nightlife and restaurant suggestions, and they will provide valuable local knowledge on a daily basis. In the UK, any motorcoach with 8 or less passenger seats do not have to limit the drivers driving times each day, giving small groups more flexibility and allows for dinner transfers etc. Motorcoaches with 9 or more seats are strictly limited with an electronic tachograph which prohibits the driver from working long hours. Any chauffeured motorcoach is obviously more expensive than self drive options, but most clients agree they are well worth the cost!

ACTIVITIES: If you are not a golfer, or if you have particular interests besides golf, we would love to know about them so we can personalize your tour. Many clients enjoy escorted sightseeing tours to castles, distilleries, gardens, battlefield tours, and the like. We can help arrange or suggest any of these if requested. Your final document package will include detailed sightseeing information too to help with après golf activities.

HANDICAPS: You must travel with a handicap certificate because some courses may ask for your handicap card and can deny access if you don’t have one. Maximum handicap restrictions apply on some courses such as St Andrews (24 for gents / 36 for ladies). If you do not qualify, call and we can discuss your options.

CARTS / CADDIES: Carts are not widely available on the traditional links courses but we can advise which courses do have them (courses often require a “Doctors note or Medical Certificate”). Caddies are normally available and we normally request caddies for all our guests, unless specifically notified otherwise on your Traveler Information Form (attached). When caddies show up they are required to be paid in local currency on site direct to the caddy. If you do not request caddies, there may or may not be some available when you arrive, and if not, you would need to hire a pull cart (“trolley” about £5) or carry your own bag. Caddies do not carry double bags. Your final tour itinerary and local host will outline caddy costs, but plan on an average of £60-75 pounds sterling in UK (equivalent of $80-100 per bag per round for an experienced caddy.

FINAL DOCUMENTS: About three weeks prior to departure you will receive a detailed itinerary with local staff contact information, luggage tags, passport folder, hotel contacts, travel tips, restaurant recommendations, hotel and golf descriptions, sightseeing descriptions, and interesting reading on local tours and history.

VOUCHERS: Premier Golf no longer provides vouchers, as most suppliers such as golf courses and hotels do not require them any longer. All of your tour components are prepaid and vouchers are now obsolete. If there is ever any confusion, your tour booklet or your local office representative should clarify any misunderstandings. WEATHER: The weather in this part of the world is best described as unpredictable, but we find the reputation is far worse than the reality. Often, it is downright enjoyable! We will provide you with a detailed “what to pack” list prior to departure as part of your final documents.

AIRLINE: As part of Travel Incorporated, Premier Golf has a large full-service airline department. Ask us to quote you airfare! Groups are encouraged to take the same flights so that the airport rental vehicles or transfers can be arranged accordingly. If flights do not coincide, additional

charges may be incurred for extra transfers. For flight schedules and quotes please contact Brian Davis at 770-291-4263 or email [email protected]. CANCELLATIONS: Tour terms and conditions of booking are shown on the Tour Registration Form. These terms and conditions will be enforced, so we always recommend Travel Insurance:

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Travel Insurance by Allianz Global Assist, the world’s most established travel protection provider, is highly recommended. We can quote you travel insurance after you return your Tour Registration Form with your birthdate (age specific policies). You have up to 2 weeks after paying your deposit to buy travel insurance and still be covered for pre-existing conditions. You can buy insurance afterwards but pre-existing conditions may not be covered. The insurance is in addition to the tour cost. Review here: Allianz Global Assistance Travel Insurance SHIP STICKS GOLF BAG DELIVERY: For excellent golf bag or luggage shipping service we recommend our partnership with Ship Sticks for golf bag or luggage delivery before or after your tour. First time users can save 10%. They will pick up at your club or at your home and are VERY reliable. For a free quote visit SHIPSTICKS or call (561) 429-3900 for price quotes and bookings. When calling remember to identify yourself as a Premier Golf traveler. PHOTOGRAPHER: Among our guest’s favorite add-on items is hiring a professional photographer to follow them around the golf course and taking action pictures, and assembling the best photographs into a nice memento photo book. Ask us about this service and document your golf pilgrimage for years to come! Makes for a great follow up gift for your group too!

PASSPORTS / VISAS: A valid passport, good for six months after your scheduled return, is required. Begin your application process now if your passport has or will expire soon. No special Visas are required for The British Isles or Ireland for American citizens but citizens from other countries should consult their respective Consulates.
