The day is celebrated throughout the country with parades, Norwegian flags and national costumes. The parade in Oslo includes some 60,000 children from over 100 schools as well as marching bands. The parade is greeted by the royal family from the balcony of the Royal Palace. Thousands of people, many dressed in national costume in honour of the day, travel to the city centre to participate in the festivities. Click here for the official program for 17 th May in Oslo. REMEMBER: INN 17th May breakfast at 10:00 - 11:30 Come and join INN for a perfect start the celebration of the Norwegian Constitution Day! Aſter a pleasant breakfast you can take a short walk to the Royal Palace square or the buzzing Karl Johan’s gate to watch the children’s parade and listen to the brass bands. INN has tickets to the Palace square where you can watch the parade and get a glimpse of the Royal Family. Sign up here to join the event! T-bane / metro closed between Majorstuen and Stortinget From Thursday 10 th to Sunday 13 th May there will be no service between Majorstuen and Stortinget. Kjell Erik Killi-Olsen – SculpturesDronning Sonja KunstStall, 11th – 15th MayThe Queen Sonja Art Stable presents a unique collection of sculptures from Norwegian artist Kjell Erik Killi-Olsen's extensive production, from the early1980s up to today. Some works are on display for the first time. The installation "The Naked Forest" will be at the centre of the exhibition. The Queen Sonja Art Stable is located in the former Royal Stables. CONCERTSCécile McLorin SalvantVictoria, Nasjonal jazzscene, 10th May at 20:00The legacy of Sarah Vaughan, Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday can be difficult to carry on, but the 28-year-old Grammy winner Cécile McLorin Salvant does so with flying colours. An Haitian background, a trilingual childhood in Miami and a classic education in France make for an original and multifaceted approach to the jazz tradition. Amadou & MariamCosmopolite, 11th May at 20:00Blind couple Amadou & Mariam are well established musicians in both their native Mali and in France. For the last few years, Amadou & Mariam have toured with Coldplay, U2 and played with musical heroes like David Gilmour and Johnny Marr. The couple performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in honour of Barack Obama and have also performed at the last two FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies. The Hipster Oslo Tour takes you from the city centre to the hipster area of Grünerløkka. Walking down the street in this colourful residential area you will, among other things, stumble across a giant chandelier, see old wooden houses from the 1800s and facades covered in street art. The area is home to one of Norway’s most famous artists, none other than Edvard Munch. The tour is 2.5 hours and in English or German.
