Understanding excessive sweating and hyperhidrosis in the UK and a safe, permanent and immediate option that we here at the Simon Lee Clinic offer.

Excessive sweating in the UK… Excessive sweating is something that bothers 1 in 10 peoplei,ii everyday, all year round, often having a profound effect on their confidence and lifestyle.

Sufferers have to think twice about what they wear and some go so far as to avoid situations where increased sweating is likely to occur. Many also rely on

industrial-strength antiperspirants, often with multiple cans or bottles on the go, in order to keep sweating under control. It’s frustrating, limiting, and pretty detrimental for the environment.

Sweating is of course a completely natural and necessary bodily function, but when the body produces more than we’re comfortable with, that’s when it becomes a problem.

WHAT IS HYPERHIDROSIS?

Hyperhidrosis is a serious medical condition characterized by excessive, uncontrollable sweating

New research shows that nearly 5% of the world's population suffers from excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. That's right, 365 MILLION people are struggling with extreme

sweating. November is ‘international hyperhidrosis month’ and we want to help spread the awareness on this debilitating condition that effects at least 2 million of the UK population daily.

DON’T SWEAT IT

miraDry is the only FDA-cleared treatment that can dramatically reduce underarm sweat in as little as one appointment. Not only that but this ground-

breaking new system offers permanent and immediate results, little to no downtime, and an optimal safety record.

Rather than simply masking the symptoms of sweat (smell, dampness etc) miraDry heads straight to the source – the sweat glands. The innovative system uses thermal energy to non-invasively target and eliminate the sweat glands found in the underarm area, leaving you feeling dry and fresh. The best bit? Once destroyed, those sweat glands don’t grow back, making miraDry one of the most permanent anti-sweat solutions. See you later, sweat stains!

THE MAGIC OF miraDry

The average treatment takes one hour with little to no, downtime. Clinically proven to reduce sweat production by 82%iii with impressive results after just one treatment. 150,000+ treatments performed worldwide with excellent safety record

THREE STEPS TO SWEAT-FREE

NUMB IT

After a consultation to specify a bespoke treatment plan, the practitioner will administer local anaesthesia to the underarm area.

MARK IT

Next, they’ll transfer a template (a bit like a temporary tattoo) onto the skin that will act as a guide throughout the treatment.

TREAT IT

Once you’re good to go, the practitioner will apply the miraDry hand piece to the underarm, sending waves of thermal energy into the skin. This energy is concentrated to the zone where the dermis meets the fat layer, heating up – and safely destroying – the sweat glands. Don’t worry though; the miraDry system simultaneously cools the upper layers of the skin making the whole thing pretty comfortable. Treatment of both underarms takes around an hour.

FAQs

What does it feel like?

Thanks to the pre-treatment anaesthetic and the innovative cooling system, most patients describe the procedure as painless.

What results can I expect?

miraDry is clinically proven to reduce sweat production by 82% and results can be seen in as little as one treatment. As with any medical aesthetic procedure, practitioners will advise if multiple sessions are required. The best bit? Once treated, the sweat glands won’t come back, making this one of the most permanent solutions to excessive underarm sweat.

Are there any side effects?

Good news! There’s little to no downtime, so you can leave the clinic and get back to business as usual. Some may, however, experience a little swelling, numbness, bruising or sensitivity for a couple of days post treatment, and some patients might experience short-term altered sensation in the underarm or upper arm skin, which gradually fades. Other effects may be noted, and patients should consult with their practitioner.

Wait – don’t we need sweat glands?

Good question. Thankfully, the body has 2-4 million sweat glands and only about 2% are found in the underarms. The rest of the body will continue to sweat normally, meaning it’ll have no problem cooling itself.
