CIHSE International Housing Group International housing group Study trip Mumbai, India 9-15 February 2020 With 104 million people estimated to be living in slums in India, CIH members are invited to join a seven-day study trip and see some of the solutions that are being put in place by a variety of organisations across Mumbai, the financial capital of India. This follows on from our last visit in 2016. This is a great opportunity not only to visit the sub- continent but learn how India is meeting the Indian Prime Minister’s ambition of Housing for All. The tour will explore: Improvements in development delivery, engaging with the state bodies and maximising delivery of affordable homes for ownership. The role of private firms in delivering the Housing for All programme, urban development, planning and development policy-making with central and state governments. Visits to multi-income sites, both private development and affordable housing projects. Discussions with government agencies on the delivery challenges facing the local states. Discussion with micro housing companies to understand their assessment of the capacity of those working in the informal sector to secure a mortgage to own their own home. Understand the partnership between the National Housing Bank and developers to deliver schemes that meet needs and are affordable for those working in the informal sector. An exclusive chance to network with Indian and UK housing professionals. The trip is expected to cost c.£1,400 per person. Delegates will need to pay £550 of this to the CIH to cover a £100 non-refundable deposit (for organising costs) and to book the hotel during the study tour.
