About NIEPMD:
National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan) (NIEPMD) is
an Autonomous body under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social
Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India established in the year 2005, on East Coast Road, Muttukadu,
Chennai, Tamil Nadu to serve as a national resource centre for empowerment of Persons with Multiple
Disabilities such as those with two or more disabilities in a person enumerated as per RPWD (2016) Act,
and National Trust (1999) Act, to undertake development of human resources for management, training
rehabilitation, education, employment and social development of persons with Multiple Disabilities, to
promote and conduct research in all areas relating to Multiple Disabilities, to develop Transdisciplinary
models and strategies for social rehabilitation and to meet the needs of diverse groups of people with
Multiple Disabilities ,to undertake services and outreach programs for the persons with Multiple Disabilities.
This institute was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act of 1975 ( Tamil Nadu Act of
1975) vide sl. no 59/2006 at chengalpatu on 23rd October 2006. This Institute received National Award for
Best Accessible Website and Barrier Free Environment for Persons with Disabilities in the year 2011 &
2012 respectively and also NAAC accredited by UGC in the year 2018.
About SWASTIK TRUST:
Swastik Trust was functioning as Occupational Therapy Clinic in the name of “ACME” at Palavakkam,
Chennai in 2004. Later it was started as a center in the name of “SWASTIK HEALTH CENTER” by
providing Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physio Therapy, Special Education and Play Therapy
services in a phased manner at Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai in 2006. Afterward “Aathichudy Special School”
was established by registering “SWASTIK TRUST” under Trust Act, RPwD Act 2016 and National Trust
Act 1999 in Kancheepuram. At this moment its branches are functioning in Chennai, Vellore and
Puducherry districts recognized by State Commissioner for Differently Abled
It is a welcoming friendly school where children can enjoy a nice and homely experience and achieve a
better result. Aathichudy Special School is not only focusing rehabilitation services to the children with
disabilities but also conducting various rehabilitation programmes in association with government and
private sectors in the field of rehabilitation.
“Yellow Cross Volunteer Group is functioning to assist persons with Disabilities under the Swastik Trust.
Swastik trust is also assisting to obtain Legal Guardianship Certificate to Persons with Mental Retardation,
Cerebral Palsy, ASD and Multiple Disabilities from the National Trust Govt. of India.
Swastik trust is providing free sessions to the children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) under the
Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme”
About A C S:
Being a developing nation, health and hygiene are mainstays in terms of national priority. With so
many people living below the poverty line, statistics reveal that unhealthy living conditions will lead to
disease and epidemics, unless a proactive approach by the medical community is put into action. Keeping
these in mind, Dr. M.G.R. University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences was established. Besides imparting
necessary medical and technological skills, the university also encourages students to be more active as a
student-medical community to improve health conditions in the nation.
The Faculty of Medical Sciences is an important department in the university and has a huge intake
of students each year. The department comes fully equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory and the
department utilizes most modern equipments and technology. The quality of education and infrastructural
advantage the university offers is one of the best in the country. The Faculty of Medical Sciences occupies a
large area of campus space.

Paper/Poster presenters are informed to present paper/poster in the title of sub themes mentioned above
Therefore it is requested to send the abstracts to the mail ‘[email protected]” on or before
20th January 2020. Once abstracts are selected, the full paper to be sent on or before 31st January 2020.

Students can also present the paper/poster/Mini Movie/ Quiz/ on the above mentioned Themes
Students can also join the cultural Event (Mime, Mimicry, Song, Dance, Script - Solo/Group)
RCI Credit Points for paper presenter will be given
