Komenský: Orbis Sensualium Pictus The Slovak National Library is inviting you to an international conference on the history of book culture, which will be held on 22th – 24th May 2019, in the residential building of SNL. As the motto of the conference indicates – The remedy against ignorance is the education, this year will be the main topic education. The theme of the conference is primarily focused on the subject of book culture history specifically on the area of education. In the context of the evolution of society, the book can be seen as a medium with an irreplaceable role in spreading education, enlightening and preserving the ideas of man, as a testimony to cultural change and progress. This premise of the book and the education is the primary and leading idea line of expected contributions. Thematic areas are focused on pedagogy in relation to the history of book culture. We welcome articles about school libraries and their relevant relationships to the personalities of a national history. We are also interested in book business, printers, publishers and their role in the educational process. In addition, interesting is the issue of the peregrination, the travels of students from Slovakian and Middle European territory to the foreign universities and their dissertations or other prints left behind. Furthermore, contributions with interesting findings on the history of book culture and new information on upcoming and ongoing projects are also welcome. The conference will provide space for meeting of researchers from memory institutions such as libraries, museums, archives and universities, academies of science who will present recent scientific results in the field of history of book culture and associated scientific fields.
