In August of 2016, under the leadership of Drs. Limor Avivi-Arber (Canada), Dale Howes (South
Africa), and Srinivas Koka (USA), the ICP officially launched the “Residents in the ICP Global
Classroom” program. Since the launch, we have had three successful webinar presentations:
To promote and nurture publishable research in peer reviewed journals. The ICP Education and Research Foundation was
established to fund emerging young prosthodontic researchers. These are defined grants for all early career
prosthodontic researchers to assist with their project. Students are encouraged to present the results of their research at
ICP meetings. For additional information, visit the ICP home page and click on the Education & Research tab.
Developed in 2015, this new collaborative program will combine financial support with mentorship of the student,
underwriting the potential for life-long impact for the student, the mentor, and the discipline of prosthodontics. The ICP
is pleased to announce the inaugural winner of the Ivoclar Vivadent/ICP Research Fellowship in Dental Restorative
Materials. Congratulations to Dr. Julián Conejo, D.D.S., MSc., who will be undertaking his work with the supervision of his
mentor Dr. Markus B. Blatz, DMD, PhD at the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, School of Dental
Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Visit the Education and Research tab for additional information regarding eligibility
requirements, mentor recommendations and application forms.
The Student Poster Awards program is held in conjunction with the ICP’s biennial scientific meeting and continues to
experience substantial grown in number of submissions. A record number of 117 student posters were submitted at the
2015 biennial meeting in Seoul, Korea. The ICP encourages students to visit the 2017 Santiago, Chile website to submit
their Student Poster for consideration via the Call for Papers tab. If you are not current with annual dues or have not yet
joined the ICP, please do so before submitting an abstract.

together Prosthodontic residents from both The University of Toronto, Canada (David Chvartszaid, Program Director), and
the University of Adelaide, Australia (James Dudley, Program Director).
Dr. Karen Bennie, a resident in the Prosthodontic program at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in South Africa
(Dale Howes, Program Director) gave the second “Residents in the ICP Global Classroom” webinar. Karen shared a case
presentation on ‘A Full Maxillary Rehabilitation- Challenges & Reflections’ followed by a lengthy discussion with Dr. Limor
Avivi-Arber, Dr. Sreenivas Koka and her fellow residents.
Just last month, Dr. Camila Saul from Santiago, Chile gave a clinical oral rehabilitation case presentation that brought
together Prosthodontic residents from the Universidad Mayor School of Dentistry, Santiago (Carlos Parra Atala, Program
Director) and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (Chris Wyatt, Program Director).
In addition to the Residents webinars, the live Topic Webinar Program was launched in late February with a lecture by Dr.
Sreenivas Koka titled, ‘Truths, Half-Truths and Lies in Prosthodontics and Implant Therapy’. Current ICP members were
invited to register for this Topic Webinar as a complimentary membership benefit and participated in a live question and
discussion session following Dr. Koka’s presentation.
