I hope your Memorial Day weekend brought sometime for enjoying family, friends, and outsideactivities. Summer is rapidly approaching, and it isthe time of year that we say good-bye and thank youto residents and fellows finishing their programs,that we welcome a new group of first-year residentsand fellows and that we have college students jointhe department for summer research projects. Ourdepartment is enriched by the many contributions ofour trainees and students.

Recently Named Masters &Fellows of ACP
Both James O'Dell, MD, chief, Division ofRheumatology and Immunology and ThomasTape, MD, chief, Division of General InternalMedicine, were selected to be Masters of theAmerican College of Physicians.
Masters is the highest recognition within ACP andreserved for a very select set of physicians.
Other Internal Medicine faculty members wereselected as ACP Fellows.

UNMC team not stumped byDoctor's Dilemma
The UNMC team of internal medicine residents, Dr.Mahabir, Alicia Mizner, M.D., and Jason Shuda,M.D., advanced into the national finals of the ACPDoctor's Dilemma competition at the 2017 AmericanCollege of Physicians (ACP) meeting. In the end,Nebraska finished second in the nation.
