Intermediate Unit 1 Sensory Toolbox
sensory accommodations and adaptations
Proprioceptive • Use of weighted lap objects, sensory blanket,
weighted backpack, weighted vest• Use of therapy balls• Jumping on a tramp• Use of tight clothing• Pressure touch to back/shoulder as if to provide
support• Performs scheduled heavy weight activity in daily
routine(walk with backpack on)• Push heavy objects, wall• Pull heavy objects• Carries different weighted objects to/from classroom
Vestibular• Scheduled walks in daily routine• Sit on wedges, deflated beach ball, T-stool,rocking chair, therapy ball• Feet touch floor• place bungee cord on bottom of chair to provide
input for feet• In gym /recess provide running, swinging, sliding, scooters activities, daily warm up exercises• Sit n’ spin• Seesaw• Balance board saucer• Movement breaks prior to fine motor

Chewing items-chew gum, fruit snacks, crunchy foods(jaw muscles)
