Restoring history.

Masonic Hall was given to me as a residential and commercial project. The Masonic Hall itself is located in the heart of historic downtown Boise, Idaho. The client was a local designer that would reside with his family above his design studio and showroom. Not only was I do design the showroom and stu-dio, I was also asked to design the home of the designer. Space planning and an artistic flare were required to meet the requirements of the home.

The Kessler home was a passive solar, barrier free and sustainable residence located in New Zealand. The requirements for the home were to keep the home barrier free for Mr. Kessler, use indigenous products, and cut energy cost by creating a passive solar environment. Students were asked to create a client with a disablity, research the disablitiy and locate them in a location that was different from anywhere they have been. Research was also done on the location to know how to create an efficient passive solar home.

Post Modern.

Each student randomly selected a time period in which they were to design a restaurant with. The requirements for the restauarant were to meet the needs of the baby boomers and for future generations. The time period in which I selected was Post Modern.

My inspiration for the space was classical comics. Not only would baby boomers relate to the comics but future generations would also relate because comics are timeless and for all ages. Within this space both baby boomers and families can be united and share a comic experience. The space is both kid friendly and yet a place for couples to go on weekend dates and feel like they have just walked into their favorite childhood comicbook.

Emotions Without Words.

WWORD PROJECTWPWW
I was given the assignment to create emotion without using the exact word I was given. My word was depression and it was a challenge to create the emotion through paintings and pictures. Depression is more then just a mental state. Many factors can cause depression, from weather to death. I tried to use all the factors to create this masterpiece.

CCraftsman BungalowCCC
The Craftsman Bungalow was a project that was taken step by step. As I learned how to hand draft, I created this bungalow using each piece of knowledge being gained. First each floor plan was created then details were put into place. The final step was creating the exterior and putting in the final details.

Simplicity With Lines.

EExterior DrawingeEE
For the line drawing I selected a floor plan of a simple home. I then constructed the 3-D hand rendering from the floor plan. I had no other details about the house except the floor plan. Along with the house I had the job to add detail to the exterior and add landscaping to create the finished product.

A picture was taken from a magazine and transformed into a picture just using lines. Different sized lines were allowed but no definite shapes. This was a Freshman project to teach us of the use of line within an interior.

SShape ProjectSSS
The shape project was the second part to the line project. The same magazine photograph was taken and transformed into shapes. The shapes then took on a life of their own and told their own story.

WWallpaperWWw
As a freshman I was given the assignment to create a repeat using my initials. Once one design was created using my initials A.L., I then repeated the design to create a wallpaper de-sign. The final process was to add color. The colors in which I selected, were chosen to meet the needs of an oriental restaurant. My final design was entered into a wallpaper competition.

As a Freshman we worked out our rendering skills by pulling pictures from magazines and recreating them in line drawings. This particular assignment we were to find a stairwell or a dining room picture and recreate the curves seen within the picture.

AApartment ComplexAAA
This project was part of the first collaboration projects we worked on within the program. Throughout the se-mester we were given a client in Rexburg, Idaho that was interested in creating a space for artists to live and work, without being on cam-pus. He was the owner of an old warehouse that he wanted to renovate and make part of this new apartment complex. The warehouse was to be the community center for the artists to come and work.

Natural Form of Healing.

HHospitalHHH
The Minidoka Memorial Hospital is a real hospital located in the Minidoka Idaho area. We were given the floor plan already finished by the architects and were required to do all interior aspects, including the RCP, furniture and finish plans, elevations, millwork details, signage plans and schedules.
52 53
I created a space that was relaxing and calming, by bringing in natural aspects to heal with the healing process.Calm relaxing colors were mixed with organic patterns to bring a natural feel to the hospital.
