MISSION STATEMENT
To provide high quality instruction in English as a second language and other second languages
ICC Hawaii’s mission is to provide high quality instruction in English as a Second Language and other second languages. We help students meet all their language goals, be they academic, social or professional. As an extension of ICC’s commitment to quality instruction, we also provide training for ESL instructors, utilizing the best teaching methods and practices of ESL instruction.

The communicative approach is an interactive approach of
teaching language that provides opportunities for students to
engage in real-life communication and to communicate in meaningful ways about meaningful topics in a

Through these elements, students can gain a better
understanding of U.S. culture and learn to fully appreciate the
beauty, history and culture of Hawaii and its outdoor life.

ICC Hawaii is just walking distance to many shops, restaurants and attractions. Our campus is surrounded with stunning views of beautiful Manoa Valley and Ala Moana Beach. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

AUTHORIZED TESTING CENTERIn 2014, ICC Hawaii was recognized by Cambridge ESOL as an Authorized Examination Centre.
Exams are given at ICC Hawaii which makes students more comfotable on exam day.
ICC Hawaii is the only school in Hawaii offering computer-based exams.
All applicants take a pre-test sent via email from which
ICC Hawaii’s Cambridge staff determines the appropriate
level of the test prep course.
Based on the test results from the pre-test, ICC Hawaii
will assign students to a the appropriate Cambridge
preparation course level
More extensive testing takes place on the first day of class which will confirm
or disconfirm the pre-test and give the student more information on the
appropriate level of course.
RECOGNITIONThe Cambridge certificate is internationally accepted by many companies and intitutions. For a complete list of institutions accepting Cambridge scores, visit:

SERVICE LEARNING
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
Age: 18+
*4 weeks ESL Program at ICC Hawaii prior to starting Service Learning
• F1 Visa
Length of Service: Max 8 weeks,16 hours/week
• We recommend students enroll for 12 weeks of English lessons
• This takes place after completing the ESL program at ICC Hawaii
Students have been at the tourism/organizations listed above. Placements are based on criteria such as the student’s English level education and interview. Placement in any specific organization cannot be guaranteed. Placement is ultimately decided by the host organization after interviewing the student.
SERVICE LEARNING COMPANIES
Once students complete their ESL program and have more time on their visa (60 days for F-1 visas and variable times for others), ICC Hawaii can refer them to a placement agency which will interview, coach and advise them before assisting in a placement where they can observe how English is used in a real work environment.

We can work with you or your group for a personally designed English and Hawaii experience. Typically, there is an English language class in the morning which focuses on the areas you select. In the afternoon, you can choose from ocean and land activities. Time can be reserved for island hopping which we can arrange.
