New AOIs (09-18-18), which are now also based on preliminary damage assessment data and well as population vulnerability.

AOIs were also reviewed by the State, which confirmed that these are the current areas requiring collection.

Image to the right is inundation estimate from GFMS for 24 hrs ending 17 Sep. Data files are available in a download folder http://flood.umd.edu/download/FlorenceThe data as in the figure below have "Max" in the label. They are an integration over a day (8 times), giving the max value at a point during that time interval (in the label). Dr. Robert F. Adler, UMD

• NGS, Remote Sensing Division• NOAA King Air (N68RF) is located in Lakeland, FL,

at AOC and planning to preposition North of the impact area to begin collections against NOAA requirements as soon as weather allows.

• Coordinating with FEMA, impacted States, and other federal agencies on priorities.

• FEMA has provided a Mission Assignment for North Carolina.

• The NOAA King Air N68RF has ~75 hours of tasking available before a mandatory maintenance period is required.

• RSD has requested and is making plans to install the back up camera in the NOAA Turbo Commander N45RF that should be available early next week. This would be a backup/additional capability for the event.

Status Update:

• Most of the AOI was obscured for the 2:52am NOAA-20 overpass for power outage analysis. However, there was enough clearing to allow some analysis. The overall summary is that imagery along the NC/SC border were obscured due to cloud (ex. Myrtle Beach) and the areas under thin cloud or clear in the AOI are consistent with the overall outage map taken at approximately the same time. While areas under thin/scattered cloud cannot be exactly compared to reference imagery, the lack of light is very noticeable along the eastern portion of North Carolina. Cities like Wilmington and Fayetteville, which were under mostly clear conditions showed decreases as compared to reference imagery. A slider webpage is up at https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~wstraka/Florence_2018/comparison_images.html

• The clearing in the clouds also allowed for the ABI and VIIRS Flood maps to be produced over the NC/SC region. These maps have been provided to FEMA for ingesting and usage (see following slides)
