• Check to make sure the SMART Board
and the projector are connected to the
computer.
• Turn on the project first, and the
computer second.

The Ready Light
• The Ready Light may be in two different
places depending on which Model of the
SMART Board you are using.

• While the SMART Board and the Computer
are establishing connection, the Ready Light will be red.
• When connection has been established, the light will turn green.
• The SMART Board is now touch sensitive.
Orienting the SMART Board
• Press and hold the keyboard and the right
mouse button at the same time until the
Orientation Screen appears.
• Press your finger or pen firmly on the center
of each cross in the order they appear.
Navigation using the SMART
Board • The SMART Board is touch sensitive, meaning you
can use your finger as your mouse.
• A press with your finger on the SMART Board acts
the same as the left-click of a mouse.
• To open an application such as Firefox or Google
Chrome, double press the icon with your finger.
The Pen Tray
• The Pen Tray contains 4 pens –
black, red, green, and blue, as well
as an eraser. Pens

• To write on the SMART Board, pick up a pen from the tray and write.
• Pick up another pen to write in a different color.
• Move the eraser from the pen tray in a smooth motion over your notes to erase them.

• To access SMART Board tools, press the SMART Board icon in the Windows Notification Area in the bottom right corner of the screen.
• If you cannot see
the icon, select
Start > Programs >

SMART Board Tools.

computer as a series of pages
• Search for objects stored in the Gallery
(images, videos, etc.)

• Control video format and recording quality

dragging the shade up or down, left or right
• Spotlight – focus audiences’ attention
• to a specific part of the screen
• Magnifier – enlarge small text or images
