This program is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the
participants and is delivered to appropriate language levels. All
programs use visual and tactile elements to support learning.

All programs above are listed with recommended age suitability as a guide only. Program content can be adapted

School Holiday ‘Whalefest’ Programs
Come and join us each school holidays for a sensational science experience!
Each school holidays the SA Whale Centre offers a new science and
craft program. These marine based programs are aimed at primary
aged children of 5 - 12 years (though younger children may participate
with an accompanying adult).
School holiday programs include hands-on science based experiments,
craft activities, fun facts and mind-boggling magic and discovery. Each
program is developed around a different marine / coastal theme and
children who attend can now earn a stamp in their Children's University
Passport.
OSCH Centres and group bookings are welcome Monday to
Friday of each week. (Min Group Booking 10)
Sessions for the general public are on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday each week of the school holidays & run from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.
The South Australian Whale Centre’s Discovery Tours are designed to be fun, interactive and educational
for students, teachers and parents alike.
Tours allow children to explore the Centre gaining information that they may not have otherwise picked
up on and learning fun facts about the whale species and specimens on display. Children are encouraged
to ask questions, use problem solving skills and lateral thinking and most of all to have fun while learning.
Tours can be tailored to suit all ages and offer an alternative to curriculum based classroom
education, whilst maintaining relevant educational outcomes for students.

Designed for years 1 to 3, the first of our history programs

Suitable for years 3 - 7 our second history program 'Way Back When – The Meyers and the Ramindjeri' Encourages children to consider life in Encounter Bay during the English settlement of
the 1840's. Using role play, media and activites to stimulate thought provoking discussion, children will learn what conversations may have been exchanged between navigators, early settlers and the local
Ramnidjeri people, giving them a glimpse of what life was like "way back when."
‘Ships Ahoy!’ aims to introduce students to one of the most important events in the history of South Australian exploration: the encounter in 1802 between English navigator Mathew Flinders, and French explorer Nicholas Baudin. Through a combination of media, experiments and discussion meant to provoke problem solving and lateral thinking children will discover the true meaning of this important historic event. (This program is adaptable for years 4 - 7 at request)

Pre-School (4yrs and under): 1 free adult per child Junior
Primary (Kindy- Yr 2): 1 free adult per 5 children
Primary (Yr 3 - 7): 1 free adult per 10 children
Secondary/Tertiary: 1 free adult per 15 students
**Additional adults will be charged at standard entry rates/fee**

with the incursion of an after hours surcharge**
