message units, through routers,

amplifiers and surveillance systems, to

loudspeakers the range includes all

elements of a system. All systems are

designed and built by Notifier to ensure

not only the quality of deliveries, but

Emergency and public address

touchscreen microphones are available

to access up to 96 zone/zone groups.

Full password-protected control of

digital message broadcast is possible,

and the unit displays both zone activity

and detailed fault status. A monitor

loudspeaker acts as both broadcast

monitor and fault sounder. More

conventional paging microphones are

also available, featuring one, four or

eight zone capacity.

Controlling zones in groups of four,

the router range allows systems to be

created, from the simplest to the most

complex. All configuration is carried

out on the front-panel, and the final

commissioning settings can be easily

saved on a PC for archiving. The

routers include digital message

capability, and also monitor the

connected amplifiers and loudspeaker

circuits. Where applicable set-up is

automatic, and a PC programming tool

is available.

and EN 60849, whilst maintaining

a clear and easy to use operator

interface.

Programming is achieved at the central

equipment, using the IDA4 Compact's

front-panel controls. Microphone

buttons are freely assignable to zones

or zone groups, button text can be

defined, access to pre-recorded

messages can be set and levels and

priorities can be programmed. If

required, access to the microphone can

be restricted using a numeric code.

Operators can make live

announcements with speech level

displayed on an integral meter, with or

without chime signal. Pre-recorded

messages can be routed and busy and

fault status indication is provided per

zone, with a separate area for system

activity and fault status display. An

inbuilt loudspeaker acts as both

broadcast monitor and fault sounder,

and is muted during live

announcements to prevent feedback.

The DIGI range of conventional paging

microphones is designed to provide

simple and economical routine paging

access to the ID PA/VA system.

A cardioid-response microphone

capsule feeds an integrated pre-

amplifier, which features local level

adjustment and an integrated limiter

to accommodate varying operator

technique. A chime signal can be set

to precede announcements, generated

within the microphone and permitting

level and tone adjustment. A high

level fully balanced output minimises

the effect of cable noise pickup to

maintain an excellent signal to noise

ratio and paging speech intelligibility.

Each zone button has a free label area

for zone designations, and is fitted

with LED indication for 'zone select'.

Zones or zone groups may be

programmed as required at the

applicable IDA series controller unit.

The wall mounted connection box

allows up to twenty microphones to be

connected to a single IDA series

controller in cascade format. These

microphones will then operate in 'first-

come, first-served' configuration to

prevent access conflicts.

descriptionForming the heart of the BS 5839 part

8 and EN 60849 ID PA/VA system, the

IDA4 range performs all surveillance,

routing, message generation and signal

processing functions. Amplifier and

loudspeaker circuit monitoring is fully

integrated, including standby amplifier

surveillance and switching.

A serial link to the ID series of fire

detection panels will achieve full

integration and system flexibility, with

minimal equipment and installation

costs.

The IDA4 Compact provides a solution

for small systems with staged

evacuation, allowing up to four zones

to be controlled from one touchscreen

microphone.

The IDA4M and IDA4MS extend the

solution for medium to large projects,

with a cascadeable format permitting

phased evacuation systems of up to

256 zones, 32 messages, 256 audio

inputs and 64 touchscreen microphones

to be created.

The IDA4XM and IDA4XMS build on

the facilities provided by the 4M and

4MS, adding RS485 public address

microphone and volume

adjustment/programme selection

capability, and sophisticated ambient

noise sensing and control.

Each IDA4 unit has an input for a

touchscreen microphone, four digital

messages (total length up to 131

seconds), four audio inputs, a monitor

loudspeaker output and four main

audio outputs. When cascaded, a 32

channel digital audio and control bus

links up to 64 units.

All faults are logged with a time and

date stamp, and displayed on the IDA4,

IDA4M or IDA4XM front panel display.

All settings can be archived on a

standard PC using the integral serial

link, and access can be password-

protected using a numeric code for

maximum security. A sixteen character

'site name' can be entered which will

be displayed on connected touchscreen

microphones; for example this could

be used for the supplier's emergency

call-out number.

The IDA4SU provides useful additional

functions within an ID PA/VA system.

The unit's surveillance and isolation

capabilities enable dual (A & B)

loudspeaker circuits to be powered

from a single amplifier, representing a

major saving in equipment quantities

whilst maintaining full compliance to

the requirements of BS 5839 part 8

and EN 60849.

In addition, the IDA4SU constantly

communicates with its associated IDA4

controller, and in the event of a

catastrophic failure of that controller

the IDASU will allow all-call emergency

paging announcements to be made

from the connected WSS or PSS series

microphone unit.

Although such failure of an IDA

controller is extremely unlikely

(as the processes and programmes

are constantly monitored by

watchdogs and memory checking

routines with automatic processor

re-start) this simple hardware bypass

provides an added degree of

resilience. If required, the unit

includes monitored contact inputs to

allow the bypass to be 'forced' via

a separate manual control.

The APA amplifier system is designed

for perfect integration within an ID

PA/VA system. The 4U RKAPA

mounting frame can house up to four

APA60 units, up to four APA120 units,

or up to two APA240 units (or

combinations) as required.

Designed to meet the requirements of

BS 5839 part 8 and EN 60849, each

amplifier is fitted with its own

independent 230V AC mains and 24V

DC battery supply maximising system

integrity. In addition to standard fuse

protection, the amplifiers feature

sophisticated electronic and thermal

protection.

An individual front-panel power

isolator assists maintenance functions,

whilst the gain controls are pre-set and

mounted on the rear panel to deter

unauthorised adjustments. When

used with the IDA series of system

controllers, gain settings are controlled

externally to the amplifier and local

amplifier gain settings are monitored.

Each amplifier includes a temperature-

controlled cooling fan, which circulates

air only when a certain temperature

threshold has been reached. This

airflow can assist the cooling of all

elements of a rack-based PA/VA system.

Front panel indicators are provided

to signal power supply present

(AC and DC), audio present and fault

status. Fault status is also signalled on

rear panel contact outputs.
