Our thoughts Saki: I think the lack of integration is a major issue in

Britain that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Social cleavages caused by different race and religious beliefs can lead to multiple riots and terrorist attacks, which could take away citizens’ safety. The Equality Act 2010 had been too recent to determine the effectiveness of it; however, I hope it would decrease the amount of discrimination among people and help the minorities assimilate into the British society.

Kyory: I think the Equality Act 2010 has potential to, obviously, alleviate the discrimination towards people who has different culture from the traditional British culture, and the racial tense among white British, non-white British, and foreigners. However, I'm really concerned that the real effectiveness of the Act in terms of personal discrimination. The Act would legally prohibit discrimination but, would it really make the British who originally hated some other groups of people more friendly to them?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS1. Cameron stated that integration had

failed in the UK. Do you agree with him?

2. If you were a citizen in the UK, what would you do to help advance integration?
