Turning functionsSince some people program lathes instead of mills, included turning functions help to round out a complete integrated CAM solution. HSM includes functions for roughing, facing, grooving, threading, parting, drilling, profiling, chamfering, cutoff and more. Utilize bar feed and part transfers functions to automate processes. HSM supports live tooling with included mill-turn functionality.

3-axis functionsFull 3-axis functions can be used for contoured parts, or programming prismatic parts more easily. Take advantage of modern architecture and multi-core CPU’s for performance that is second to none. Adaptive clearing with automatic re-machining provides reduced roughing times while extending tool life. Utilize high quality finishing strategies such as planar, contour, z-level ramping, spiral, radial, morphing, pencil tracing and more for a brilliant surface finish.

2.5 axis functionsAutodesk HSM contains a full complement of easy to use tool-path functions for typical job-shop requirements. Functions like adaptive clearing, facing, pocketing, contouring, and tracing can mill the parts easily. Additional functions provide advanced engraving and chamfering. Placing holes in parts is simple with drilling, tapping, threading, and boring functions.

Multi-Axis FunctionsWhether using machines greater than 3-axis in because the part demands it, or to reduce fixtures and setups, Autodesk HSM has you covered. Use all 2.5D and 3-axis functions in a 3+2 axis environment. Full simultaneous 5-axis can be used to tilt tool holders automatically to avoid collisions while using shorter cutters, or perform more traditional 5-axis functions such as swarf or multi -axis contouring. Besides mill-turn, you can wrap pockets and geometry in 4-axis operations.
