Life Cycle Management (LCM) enables inventory and cluster-

aware update

LCM is a new framework that automates software and

firmware updates for your XC Series or XC Core clusters.

LCM Automated Framework Begins

* Testing was done on a XC Series 630-10, 4-node cluster running ESXi 6.5U1 and AOS 5.5.0.6** LCM does not support Hyper-V or AHV hypervisors at this time.*** Traditional upgrade is performed on each node in a cluster in an incremental fashion.

Upgrade is 70% faster using LCM

Time In Hours

Traditional updates take 10 hours vs LCM at 2.8 hours

LCM highlights and benefits

Life Cycle Management (LCM) is a new feature of Nutanix Acropolis Operating System

(AOS) 5.0 which eliminates the manual steps necessary to update Dell EMC XC Series

Appliances or XC Core Systems and saves hours of an administrator’s valuable time.

LCM performs cluster-aware, automated, rolling updates one XC Series appliance at a time

for these components:

• BIOS

• Backplane

• PERC730 and HBA330 controllers

• Network Interface Card

Other key features of LCM include:

• Schedule and check availability for new updates automatically

• Auto-migration of VMs streamlines update process

• Supports dark sites with LCM locality settings

• Leverages rich standards-based APIs offered by iDRAC Lifecycle Controller (WS-MAN,

Redfish, IPMI, and RACADM CLI)

• NCC health checks validate the health of a cluster prior to performing the updates

• Prism Tasks tab enables monitoring for Entity update status
