Sustainability initiatives and production loss reductions can be achieved by applying innovative in-line quality control points. In addition, production time can be shortened, plant capacity increased and out off-specification batches reduced. Therefore, Endress+Hauser instruments provide more process information:

Mass flow, Viscosity, °Brix, and % MilkfatFulfilling the economic task to get the most out of one measuring point, the Proline Promass Coriolis flowmeters measure mass, temperature, density and viscosity simultaneously. This opportunity opens up completely new application fields and can be used to derive other variables such as volume flow, solid contents, concentrations and complex density functions.

Density measurementA transition monitoring Liquiphant M allows an easy to install density measurement in pipes and tanks. By processing the resonance frequency of the vibration fork with the Density Computer FML621, you get accurate and fast monitoring of phase shift or density (concentration can be calculated). Up to five density measuring points (with temperature compensation) can be installed in one density computer ensuring fast ROI (Return on Investment).

pH measurementTo establish an in-line pH measurement that detects the smallest deviations of pH shifts, calibration and measuring procedures have to be reproducible. This can be realized with the TopCal S CPC310 system which measures, cleans and calibrates fully automatically. Used with glass or non-glass pH sensors, it can be used in all areas of process and utilities.

Milk and cream standardizationDo you know where your cream is?High accuracy instrumentation where it counts the most

Electromagnetic flowmeter Promag H seriesThe Promag H sensor is especially designed following the requirements for hygienic applications in the dairy industry. Ideal for batching, plant massbalance, receiving and feed lines of product or CIP flows. The modular Proline transmitter concept offers the right opportunities for all applications. Pulsating flow compensation and empty pipe detection make this electromagnetic flowmeter the best choice.

Mass flow measurement with highest accuracyThe Promass F is ideal for virtually all fluids, measuring several process parameters directly in the pipeline: Mass and volume flow, density concentration as well as temperature. The fully drainable measuring tubes are excited with high frequency and therefore immune to plant and systems vibrations. The Promass F offers the highest accuracy and process stability available for flowmeters measuring the valuable fat content of your milk products. This high performance instrument can be reliably used to control the standardization processes in cream and whole milk.

Reliable pressure measurement ensures efficient standardization processesPressure conditions in the feed line and the outlet of a separator require reliable pressure monitoring. Cerabar S offers a flush stainless steel or ceramic diaphragm and a wide variety of hygienic process connections, providing the highest flexibility to retrofit into existing applications.

Heat treatment

Two temperature sensors at one measuring point: Temperature controlled by TH27 with double PT100

Differential pressure across heat exchangerTo avoid a mixing of heat treated with untreated product, a pressure gradient must be maintained. Highest hygienic safety in such applications is reached by using the self-monitoring Ceraphire™ Ceramic sensors. An alternative to this is the PMP46, a conventional transmitter with a SS316 membrane.

Double safetyA maximum of safety is provided by TH17 containing two Pt100 inside the sensor. Redundancy is fulfilled and guarantees fail safe temperature measurement in a single measuring point.

Safe processes for safe products:Save energy - increase quality

HACCP: fit your Critical Control Points (CCPs) with reliable measuring technology - leaving no chance for hazards

pH measurementTo control the ripening processes of cheese milk by bacterial starter cultures, a precise pH measurement is essential. Endress+Hauser pH measurement solutions offer several advantages:• Glass-free the pH probes of the Tophit family

like the CPS441D are made out of PEEK• Humidity resistant the innovative Memosens concept

transfers data digitally and energy inductively between sensor and the transmitter Liquiline M

• Pre-calibrated pH probes can be pre-calibrated in the

laboratory, placed on stock and installed later without any new calibration because Memosens saves the calibration data on a chip in the head of the probe

• Flexible depending on your process conditions

Endress+Hauser offers the right process assembly: fixed with the Unifit H or retractable with the CleanFit H

Concentration measurementThe processes in cheese making also require reliable monitoring such as Brine concentration, transition monitoring and concentration of CIP detergents.Smartec S is the first EHEDG and 3-A certified sensor on the market. The sensor is fully encapsulated in FDA conformed PEEK material without any joints. Stainless steel housing of the transmitter withstands the harsh ambient conditions. Reliable phase separations enabled by fast response time of the integrated temperature sensor. The measuring system is also available as a separate version with the sensor Indumax CLS54 and the transmitter Liquiline M.

Cheese vat - temperature controlThe temperature of cheese vat is accurately measured by the TMT162 transmitter with dual RTDs - ensuring safety and redundancy. Continuous monitoring of the 2 sensors give alarm if drift is detected. Automatic switch over to redundant sensor in the event of primary sensor failure ensures that batch can be completed without impact on quality.

Yogurt productionFrom tanks to tubs - yogurt in a high variety of recipes reliably produced

Level measurement with free space or guided wave radar: high accuracy under difficult process conditionsFruit preparations can be stored in pressurized tanks to speed up emptying. By radar measurement with Micropilot M FMR245 high accurate contactless level measurement is possible. This measuring principle is also recommended for storing tanks of curdled milk products, where discharge CO2 causes density shifts and hydrostatic level measurement is not the best solution. Guided wave is applicable where foam or measurement to top of tank is required.

Save money by exact dosing of valuable ingredientsThe dosing of valuable ingredients with lumpy or fibrous consistency like fruit or chocolate preparations requires a single-tube flow measuring system covering these challenges. The Coriolis mass flow measuring system Promass S is gentle on the products being measured, provides highest accuracy and is easy to clean. Software options for batching and concentration measurement make the Promass S suitable for difficult mixing application.

In-line detection of non-homogenous productThe single-tube Coriolis flowmeter Promass I measures not only mass flow, temperature and density but also the product viscosity. During the fermentation of yogurt, whey pockets can occur by syneresis of the milk proteins. The only reliable way to detect these product inhomogenities is the viscosity measurement with the Promass I. A lot of process steps like heating, evaporation or stirring have also an impact on the product viscosity and can be controlled in the same way.
