INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORSHELMINTHOLOGIA

Journal Helminthologia publishes peer-reviewed original scientifi c articles, review articles, case reports and research notes on differ-ent helminthology topics. Particularly on helminths in human and animal hosts as well as plant nematodes affecting the environ-ment, have an effect on health or are of veterinary importance. In addition any article studying combined infection or relationship between helminths and endo (protozoan) or exo-parasites is ap-propriate and would be considered. Book reviews, Editorials and Letters to the Editor presenting comments on material published in this journal are also welcome.

General Instructions

Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, or thesis); that it is not under consideration for publication in any other journal. Submitted manu-scripts must be approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible institutional authorities where the study and/or exper-iments has been carried out. The publisher and journal owner will not be held legally responsible for any claims or compensations.

The authors transfer the copyright of the paper to the Helminth-ologia by completing the OPEN ACCESS LICENCE form. Helminthologia offers authors and reviewers the option of on-line manuscript submission and peer-review system available at https://www.editorialmanager.com/helminthologia/. Authors should register themselves fi rst as new users and then upload their man-uscripts following the on-screen instructions. Paper Writing Guide

Manuscripts, written in English, should be submitted in MS Word (97 or higher) either as a standard DOCUMENT (.doc or .docx) or RICH TEXT FORMAT (.rtf). For writing use a normal plain font (e.g. Times New Roman). All references should be written in a format as requested and described in journal guidelines, and with DOI-s provided. Any manuscript not following these basic rules will not pass preliminary review and will be returned for revision and correction.

Arrangement of the Manuscript

Title page should contain a concise info what must include title, name of author(s) without titles, author(s) affiliations and institu-tional addresses as well as personal e-mail addresses.Authors are asked to ensure that line and page numbering is in-cluded in the main text file of their manuscript at the time of sub-mission to facilitate peer-review.

Elements of the Manuscript

reviewed and approved by an appropriate institutional committee. ● Studies on patients or volunteers require ethics committee

approval and informed consent, which should be provided within submitted manuscript.

● When reporting experiments on animals, authors should in-dicate whether the international, national and/or institutional guidelines for the care and use of animals have been followed, and that the studies have been approved by a research com-mittee at the institution at which the studies were performed. Add ethical statement and approved animal or study protocol number at the end of material and methods section.

Violations of this policy may result in delay of publication, retrac-tion of the article, or notification of your institution.

Summary must accompany every manuscript. It should present the most important results and conclusions in no more than 300 words. Following the abstract body 3 to 6 key words, separated by semi-colons, should be listed for indexing.

Text – General Rules

We suggest that the English language is proofread, edited for its correctness before submission of the manuscript.

Genus and species names should be in italics. The common names of animals should not be capitalized. When describing a new species (and/or other new taxa) please provide exact address where the specimens are deposited, including the collection num-bers of holotypes, paratypes, etc. The rules governing biological nomenclature laid down by the International Code for Zoological Nomenclature should be strictly followed.Please use symbols of the International System of Units (SI) and those recommended by the International Nomenclature. Abbrevi-ations should be defined in brackets after their first mention in the text. Standard SI units may be used without definition in the body of the paper.

Ethical Approval and/or Informed Consent

The articles such as original research articles, review articles, case reports or clinical studies must contain ethical statements. State-ments are required if the work involves the use of animal or human subjects. The authors should ensure that all research has been

articles submitted to Helminthologia. Competing interests can be financial or non-financial, professional, or personal. Decla-ration of all potential competing interests is a requirement for the successful manuscript submission.

Tables and Figures

We encourage authors to submit tables and figures SEPARATELY. Do not insert tables or figures in the text.

Tables

Each table should be numbered consecutively using Arabic nu-merals and referred to in the text by its number. Please provide a caption to each table, refer to a table in the text. The number of lines should be limited using two horizontal lines thus separating headings from data columns properly. Add one horizontal line be-low to limit the table. Vertical lines should be avoided. Please, do not present the same data in both the Tables and Fig-ures. In general, Figures are preferable to Tables.

Figures

All photographs, graphs, illustrations and diagrams should be re-ferred to as a “Figure” and numbered consecutively. Please insert keys and scale bars directly into figures. Relatively small text and

great variation in text sized should be avoided. Please provide a detailed legend (without abbreviations) to each figure and refer to each figure in the text.

For vector graphics, the preferred format is EPS; for graphs MsEx- cel and MsWord files are also acceptable.

Scanned line drawings and line drawings in bitmap format should have a minimum resolution of 1200 dpi.

Halftone art – photographs, drawings, or paintings with fine shad-ing, etc. should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Please use TIFF format for them.Combination artwork should have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi.

Legends

The legends should be listed in a separate file.

Proofreading

Authors are informed by an e-mail that a temporary URL has been created from which they can obtain their proofs. Proofreading is the solely responsibility of the author. Authors should make their proof corrections (formal corrections only) on a printout of the pdf file supplied by journal editorial office. Please re-check that text is complete and that all figures and tables are included. After the online publication, corrections can only be made in exceptional cases and only in the form of an Erratum which will be hyperlinked to the article. In a case of final check prior manuscript acceptation and upon the corresponding author request a scientific proofreading and language editing may be performed by journal editorial office. This kind of service price tag is 100 EUR/per article.

PDF copy for personal use is provided free of charge.

Journal does not have any article submission charges associated with manuscript submission or peer-review. However, upon successful completion of peer review process all accepted papers are subject to the Article Processing Charges (200 EUR/per article). Accepted and proofread papers will be published online as Ahead of Print papers prior the availability of particular issue in open ac-cess online and print formats. AOP papers can be cited by their assigned DOI. After release of the open access and printed ver-sions, the paper can also be cited by its volume, issue and page numbers.
