    DPA-1.2

  • 2. INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your recent purchase of the Russound DPA-1.2two-channel amplifier. The DPA-1.2 is a high-current, high-qualityamplifier, which includes automatic A/B switching. The DPA-1.2two-channel amplifier will amplify a source at the sensing lineinput or the sensing speaker level input. Switching between adefault audio source and a local source, the DPA-1.2 is ideally suit-ed for those applications that require automatic switching andamplification. The DPA-1.2 power output per channel is 35 wattsper channel into 8-Ohms, and 45 watts into 6-Ohms. Bridged out-put provides 70 watts of power into 8-Ohms. Each amplifier outputchannel incorporates thermal, and short circuit protection andRussound’s unique Dynamic Clipping Sensor that allows for betterheadroom and volume without clipping or distortion.

The Russound DPA-1.2 amplifier is built with pride. Fidelity,Reliability and Quality are the primary objective. Russound prod-ucts are guaranteed to provide years of enjoyment.

    3. POSSIBLE SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS

The DPA-1.2 can be used as a single-source two-channel zoneamplifier, or as a local-source amplifier that automatically switchesbetween a default source (such as a whole-house audio distributionsystem) and a local source (such as a television set).

  • 4. FRONT PANELPower Switch: Turns on the main power for the ampli-fier. When the power is on, the LED will be illuminated.

    5. BACK PANEL CONNECTIONSLine Input: This line input is a sensinginput that will activate the DPA-1.2when an audio signal is present. Whenthere is no audio, the amplifier will gointo standby or default back to thewhole-house amplified signal if playing.Speaker Level Input: The speaker level input is asensing input that will automatically switch the DPA-1.2 from the default input to the speaker level input. This input would be used in place of the line audioinput. An amplified signal from a smaller amplifier ortelevision can be amplified by the DPA-1.2 for acleaner, more dynamic sound.Gain Controls: Left and Right gain con-trols independently adjust the soundlevel for each channel. When in thebridge mode, only the right controlis used. Stereo / Mono Switch: The Stereo /Mono switch selects stereo or mono for the speakeroutputs. In the Mono position, each Left and Rightoutput is Mono. The Mono portion is also used forbridged operation. Video Input: The Video Input is a sensing input thatwill activate the DPA-1.2 when a videosignal is present. When there is novideo, the amplifier will go into standbyor default back to the whole-houseamplified signal if playing.

  • Speaker Outputs: The A and B speaker outputs are in parallel to theamplifier output. When connected to the A or B output, either 6-ohm or 8-Ohm speakers could be used. When using both A and Bspeaker outputs, only speakers with impedance higher than 8Ohms can be connected. For Bridge amplifier operation, connectthe + of the speaker to the R+ and - of the speaker to the L+ of theamplifier.

  • 12-Volt Trigger In and Out: The Triggeroutput is 12 volts at a maximum of100mA. This can be used to drive arelay- operated AC outlet or other 12-volttriggered devices. The 12-volt triggerinput is used to activate the DPA-1.2 independently from the autoturn on sensing circuit, in which case the delay, video and audiosensing are bypassed. Delay Time: The delay timecan be adjusted from about0.3 minutes to 8 minutes. The DPA-1.2 amplifier willautomatically switch to the default input signal after thedelay setting. (When set between 4 and 5, defeats delaysetting). When the audio or video source is no longerplaying, the DPA-1.2 will switch back to the default input after theset delay time. Power: The DPA-1.2 is set at the factoryfor operation of either 120 VAC 60Hz or230 VAC 50Hz. Please reference thevoltage rating on the back panel.Includes detachable 2 terminal power cord.
