Introduction

With these instructions, you will be building a makeshift truck using lego pieces. You will need to

know how to work with lego pieces to do this project. You will also need the specific lego pieces listed in

the “materials” section of this manual. Let’s get started!

Materials

To be obtained from the Group 5 lego bag that Dr. K will bring in:

2 green 1x1 trapezoids

1 red 4x2

1 orange L shape

1 blue 4x2

1 purple 4x2

1 yellow 2x2

1 blue 2x1 trapezoid

1 green circle (cylinder)

1 set of wheels

Instructions

1.

Attach the green circle to the top of the wheels.

2.

Attach the blue 4x2 to the top of the green circle, so that the left 2 rows (see figure 1) from the

blue block are the ones attached to the green, and so that all 4 notches (see definitions) of the

green circle are covered.

3.

Attach the shorter side of the orange L to the left-most row of the blue block (which is the side

attached to the green circle), so that the longer side of the L hugs the left side of the blue block

4.

Attach the red 4x2 to the side of the orange L hanging off of the blue, so that half of the red

sticks up away from the wheels and it is perpendicular to the blue

5.

Attach the 2 green trapezoids to the bottom half of the red (the half closer to the wheels), both

so that their slant is facing down toward the wheels, but not hanging off, and each is in aseparate column

6.

Attach the purple 4x2 to the top of the blue so that they are parallel, and the purple covers the 3

rows of the light blue that are still open

7.

Attach the yellow 2x2 to the top of the purple, on the half of the purple closest to the orange

8.

Attach the blue trapezoid to the bottom of the light blue, in the right-most row so that the slant

is facing outward

Trouble shooting

1.

For help on the definition of what a row or column is, see figure 1, or the glossary.

2.

For a visual aid in what the finished project looks like, see figure 2.

Glossary key terms, definitions

Notch: the little circle indentions sticking up from the legos

Row: the shorter of the two lines of notches (ex. the 2 notch pattern in a 4x2 lego)

Column: the longer of the two lines of notches (ex. the 4 notch pattern in a 4x2 lego)

Half: a square of 4 notches bordering the edge of the lego, specific to 4x2 legos
