What´s next?
National Forest Managment Verification and Monitoring Systems/Applications (INAB)
National Biodiversity Verification and Monitoring Systems/Applications (CONAP)
National Agriculture - Cattle Monitoring Systems/Applications (MAGA)
Satellite Images and Drones to suport the 3 national systems and applications in real time.
Development of other technologies to get information from the field in real time.
Capacity building; Human Resources, Transport, Equipment (Computers, Electric Generators, GPS, ect), and Sofware for the systems of the 3 institutions (INAB,MAGA,CONAP)
We need information to:
• Identify deforestation activities in time to take action to control illegal logging.
• Identify illegal logging sites to facilitate intervention and prosecution.
• Provide information for evidence in legal proceedings.
• Support the protection of endangered species.
• Provide accurate information to forest industry and market.
Monitoring requirements
Build our own capacity in people and equipment Training for our staff to
operate systems interpret data perform analysis Build a trusted partnership approach which allows us to
become leaders in the region
What we need What we need
Look at where we have data gaps , fill the gaps so we currently
action on illegal logging
Create a combined information system which
uses lots of data and technology sources to give us the information picture we need
to install and run solutions which allows information to be shared between all involved institutions
Provide necessary evidence to support a business case for further funding, either by Guatemala or another institution
