DESCRIPTION
The Institutional Search Portal of the “Congreso de la Republica del Peru” was built under the platform Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) using SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition as database management. Within all the features that brings this platform is used specifically for Enterprise Search functionality. Was created two different site collections, one of them External and the other one Internal, each of them handle different authentication mechanisms. The collection of external sites handles Anonymous Authentication, any Internet users can access this site to perform external searches, while the collection of internal sites handles Windows Authentication, any domain users can do internal searches. We classified the different types of content sources into Internal and External information, which were ordered through 2 Shared Services Providers. The different types of content sources that were indexed are: Web servers, Lotus Notes Databases, SQL Server 2000 Databases. In the case of SQL Server 2000 Databases, was used a service called MOSS 2007 Business Data Catalog (BDC) for indexing those databases. Most of the indexed content were Lotus Notes Databases, approximately 500 Databases, these databases contain a lot of content generated by the congress as: Law Projects, Photos, Press News, Laws, Agendas, Newsletters, Events, among others; for which the information was classified in 10 different search scopes. To visualize search results, we have to develop WebParts that consume information from BDC entities. Out of the Box Advanced Search WebParts were customized to access the metadata of Lotus Notes Databases and Search Results WebParts were customized through XSLT to improve the presentation experience of search results. Objectives: • Have a centralized platform for search and indexing content that generates the institution, allowing its classification for perform quick searches.• Provide mechanisms for users with transparent and efficient access to institutional information. Define the structure of an institutional search portal through web sites, based on the content structure of the Congress of Peru, allowing quick and advanced search documents contained in the database of knowledge. • Allow the classification of information on different data sources, such as file servers, databases, mail server and web pages, allowing even search within the same documents.
