2017-2018
INTRODUCTION
NSS stands for National Service Scheme. The motto, i.e., the
Watchword of the NSS is “Not Me But You”. This expresses the essence of democratic
living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other man’s point of
view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare
of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole. Institute of
Science has been in the forefront of NSS activities. The NSS unit has strength of 100
volunteers. The impetus is to give the students best educational experience in order to make
them responsible and productive citizens of the country. It has undertaken many socially and
environmentally viable programmes which are very much helpful to the mankind; service is
our motto of - Institute of Science - NSS. The Director, Dr. R.G. Atram, is the Chairman of
Institute of Science -NSS Unit with Mr. S.U. Patil and Mr. Shrikant. J. Borkar are the NSS
Programme Officer.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
• Understand the community in which they work.
• Understand themselves in relation to their community.
• Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving
process.
• Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
• Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community
problems.
• Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
• Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
• Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
• Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
• Practice national integration and social harmony.
• Enrolment Drive and Orientation Program
• Enrollment drive was conducted in the month of July and enrolled 150
volunteers for the year 2017-18. In order to orient the newcomers an orientation
cum training program was organized on 15th
July, 2016.
• CONSTITUTION DAY
• NSS Unit of Institue of Science, organized the celebration on the
Constitution Day on 26th November 2017, where in Director, Dr. R. G. Atram,
Institute of science addressed the students, and educated them with the history
and importance of constitution in India. The preamble reading was done by
Director Dr. R. G. Atram and followed by everyone present in assembly of
consisting of faculty, staff, students and all others. The Programme was attended
by students.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP
On TUE, JAN 9, 2018 in Institute of Science an inter collegiate blood donation camp
has been organized by National Service Scheme on 9th JAN 2017 under the program
officer Shri S. U. Patil. In this campaign the blood has been donated to Govt. Medical
Hospital Nagpur. Students of various colleges have donated the blood and shown their
gratitude towards mankind. The teaching and non teaching staff if Institute had also
given their contribution by donating the blood. After all the motto of the campaign was
to contribute a little towards society. Dr. R. G. Atram, director of Institute of Science,
Nagpur had appreciated the work of volunteers of National Service Scheme. The donors
have been honored by certificate. The program had been successfully finished due to the
volunteers which know their duty towards society.

POSTER MAKING FOR AWARENESS WITH COLLEGE CLINLINESS
DRIVE
Posters Makinf Cleanliness drive was held on 31th
jan. 2018 in college campus to make
campus CLEAN. And distinguished between PLASTIC NON PLASTIC:
CULTURAL EVENTS IN SANJEEVAN VRUDHA-AASHRAM.
NSS students organized cultural programmes in Vrudha Aashram to give
happiness to old age peoples and make their life with joy.Old peoples are enjoyed
program and they also participated. There was a smile on everyone’s face and the
event may be remembered as a memorable day.
NSS SEVEN DAYS SPECIAL CAMP
NSS Unit of College had organised Seven Days Camp from 29th
JAN to 4th
feb 2018 at
Sanjeevan Vrudhaashram, Aamgaon Devdi, Teh. Hingna, near Nagazari village. Camp
was attended by 70 students and staff members. The Theme of the Camp was “Zero
Budget Farming”. NSS Volunteers conducted various activities such as skit and debate
on the topics “Zero Budget Farming”, Save Girl Child, etc. Talks were organized for the
Volunteers on different topics such as Consumer Awareness, Anti-superstition and
moral values and NSS objectives. The purpose of the camp was to inculcate various
values such as social, cultural, moral, educational and ethical.
VALEDICTORY PROGRAMME.
On 4th
Feb. 2018 at 12 in the noon, valedictory programme was organized of Prof.
S. U. Patil, Programme Officer, Prof. Shrikant Borkar, Programme Officer, Dr. R.
G. Atram, Director, And Dr., Chief Guest were the dignitaries of the valedictory
function. Students narrated their experiences of the camp. The Unit Leader Mr.
Pratik Bire read the camp report and the statistical details in front of the dignitaries.
Both the dignitaries appreciated the activities done and congratulated the team for a
successful camp.
L.A.C.F. 2017-18 Report
Institute of science had been organized an Inaugural function of L.A.C.F 2017 on date
06/10/2017 and career guidance workshop on UPSC by Sanjeev V. Chetule, Assistant
commissioner (P) (EOL), Indian Revenue Service (Custom, GST & Narcotics), Ministry of
Finance, Govt. of India and Dr. R. G. Atram, Director of Institute of Science Nagpur was the
president of program.
Dr. R. V. Tijare Assit. Professor Department of Zoology Institute of Science has been
delivered a lecture on “Personality and Hard work”. Mr. Sanjeev V. Chetule shared an
importance of competitive Examinations and how it helps in social development of students in
his address. Akash Tale and a group of students from B.Sc III shows the importance of healthy
life of students in their social musical drama.
Mr. Sanjeev V. Chetule awaked the students about UPSC and other Competitive exams.

WOMEN DEVELOPMENT CELL 2017-18

Women development cell 2017-18 was formally inaugurated on 19/8/2017 .
One day workshop was organized on 19/08/2017 on the topic “MANAGING EMOTIONS. Dr.
Aparna AshtaputreSisode, Head of psychology department at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada
University, Aurangabad. Dr. Aparna AshtaputreSisode had an interactive session with students and
shared her thoughts that how to manage our emotions at every situations for different age groups and
how students should deal with peer pressure.

Feb. 2018, Dr. Sushmita Mukherji, Shefali Dudhbade from Swacch Association
sensitized girl students on “Awareness about disposal of Sanitary napkins”
International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2018 by organizing guest lecturers,
Guest speaker Dr. Zulfi Sheikh, Principal of R. M Patel College Bhandara. She had delivered a
speech on Women Empowerment and their rights.
And Actress Ilakruti had an interactive session with students and shared her thoughts about women
empowerment by sharing her struggling experiences and revealed the importance of self-confidence in
women’s life.
