Installing  Buggles  and  Beezy  from  a  school  server  Treasures  software  for  grades  K-­‐1  and  2-­‐3  

 Buggles  and  Beezy  is  a  network-­‐based  program.  Software  has  been  installed  on  each  school  server,  enabling  it  to  be  run  on  multiple  classroom  computers  without  the  CD.    Note:  A  maximum  of  ten  students  in  the  school  can  run  it  from  the  server  at  any  one  time.  Because  of  this,  it  does  not  make  sense  to  install  Buggles  in  a  computer  lab.    Installing  in  a  classroom:  

Step  1:    Navigate  to  the  server  share  by  opening  “My  Computer”  (on  a  PC)  and  typing  the  share  path  into  the  address  bar  in  place  of  the  words  My  Computer  as  below.  PC  and  Mac  path  names  are  in  the  table,  though  these  directions  are  only  for  PCs.  Be  sure  to  start  with  the  proper  two  slashes  \\  when  typing  the  path.  

                     

 Step  2:    Drill  down  into  the  folders  to  find  the  installer.  Double-­‐  click  it.  

 

 Step  3:    Select  your  grade  level  if  given  that  choice.  If  not,  and  if  the  installer  is  not  for  your  

grade  level,  go  back  to  step  2  and  look  for  a  second  installer  program  in  a  different  folder  on  the  server;  it  will  also  be  titled  MMH  Buggles,  possibly  inside  of  a  “Program  Files”  folder  in  the  share.

 Step  4:    Click  Next  and  then  

YES  when  asked  to  install  on  the  C  drive.    

   

Step    

 

5:    Wait  .  .  .  and  wait  .  .  .  as  it  installs    

 

6:    In  the  last  step  choose  to  put  the  icons  on  the  desktop  and  restart.      

7:    After  restart  the  program  icon  should  be  on  the  desktop.      To  set  up  a  class  run  the  Teacher  Utilities  program  by  going  to  START  >  Programs  >  MMHBuggles  >  Phonics  Network…  as  below.    

 Click  “Management  Tools”  and  enter  the  school  password  (from  the  table  in  step  1).  From  there  you  can  create  individual  teacher  passwords.
