Installing printers and plotters using webprint.tudelft.nl on Windows 7 64-bit

Before you beginThe following instruction is not supported by the TU Delft yet, but has been tested to be working. The manual applies to both printers and plotters. This manual is being offered to you as an extra service. So in case you have a configu-ration or version of Windows 7 other than the one described here and you have problems installing a printer, neither ICT nor a Servicepoint will be able to help you.

PrerequisitesIn order to successfully install a printer, make sure you have a working internet connection and that you have all the latest updates for Windows 7 installed. Also make sure your NetID is activated and that your NetID account hasn’t been locked out.

If you have a 32-bit version of Windows 7, this manual will still work. The manual for Windows 7 32-bit will be more practical however.

ImportantPlease make sure to use Internet Explorer with this manual, as it will save your passowrd into the Windows Pass-word Vault, which is necessary to be able to manually install the printer.

Open Internet Explorer and go to http://webprint.tudelft.nl.

Open the drop down list and choose the building in which the printer you want to install is located.

In this manual we choose a printer in the BK building.

Click on go.

The following logon window will appear. Fill in your credentials as follows:

In the user name field fill in: “<netid>@tudelft.net” (where you replace “<netid>” with your own NetID username) and in the password field fill in your NetID password.

Please make sure to select: ‘Remember my credentials’. If you don’t, the printer installa-tion will fail.

The next window opens. Click on Properties

Select the Network Name and copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl + c).

Then click the Printer Model (NRG MP C2500 PS in this example). The Device Settings webpage with the printer configuration is displayed. We will need this later on, so just keep the window opened for now.

After you have logged on, a list of printers in the BK Building will be presented.

Click on the link of the printer that you need to install. In this manual we choose to install printer ‘BK-01-West.105’.

Click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

You may click Stop to stop the search. Then click The printer that I want isn’t listed.

Choose Select a shared printer by name.

Paste (Ctrl + v) the Network Name you copied earlier into the text field. Click Next.

Windows will attempt to connect to the printer.

If it fails, make sure you used Internet Ex-plorer and checked Remember my credentials.

If the printer was added correctly, click Next. Make sure to uncheck Set as default printer.Click Finish to complete.

You’re almost done, but before you can actually use it, you need to do some configuration.

Open the Devices and Printers window, either from your Start menu directly, or through Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound.

Click Add a printer.

Open the Device Settings tab.

Scroll down to the Installable Op-tion section and change the settings according to the Device Settings webpage you opened before.

Note that these may vary depending on the actual printer being installed. For a typical NRG MP C2500 it would be: Option tray: Lower Paper Trays Internal Tray 2: Installed Internal Shift Tray: Not Installed Finisher: Finisher SR3010

Then scroll up to the Form to Tray Assignment section and change the paper size settings according to the same webpage.

That’s it. The printer installation and configuration is complete. You can use this printer from any application.

Go back to the Devices and Printers windows to configure the printer. You need to configure the paper trays and other options by hand to be able to print properly.

Select the printer that was just added and right-click it. Choose Printer properties.

When you change your NetID password on netid.tudelft.nl, the passwords that are stored for the printer connec-tions won’t change along automatically. As a result the printer connections on your computer will stop function-ing.

You should be able to get your printers working again by changing the password in the Windows Password Vault (Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage your credentials) Alternatively you could delete the printers from your computer and reinstall them as described in this manual. To delete a printer, select it and press delete.
