Before Installing Other Users

After you have installed the first user, you should update that user with all the web sites that all users will

be using. When the web sites have been tested, copy the myLinks.fil and myWebCategories.fil from the

installed ..\Database folder to the \MyWebSites folder on the server.

As illustrated below, when the setupcli.exe installation finishes the Configure User dialog box provides

the option to copy the myLinks.fil and myWebCategories.fil from the \MyWebSites folder to the

installed user’s folder.

After the installation you can still configure the user by exploring to the ..\Program Files\MyWebSites

folder and running the ConfigureClient.exe program.

One MyLinks.fil File For All Users

One MyLinks.fil and MyWebCategories.fil on the Server If the installation is the special case where all users would use the same login to all web sites, the updates

would made by a user, designated as the Administrator, who would have the update enabled on his/her

installation of My WebSites software. He/She would do updates on their copy of the myLinks.fil and

myWebCategories.fil files. These files then would then be copied from this user’s ..\Database folder to

the \MyWebSites folder.

For all other users the Client uses the server’s ‘mylinks.fil’ file’s Yes/No checkbox would be checked on,

as shown below.
