Standard SmartZone Installation orUpgradeVerify the ISO (Optional)Before mounting and running the SmartZone ISO, you can verify the checksum of theISO image by running the command below from the directory where the ISOs are loc-ated:

certUtil-hashfile [name of iso image] SHA256

Verify that the checksum from the command output is the same as the checksumincluded in the sha256sum.txt file.

Install or UpgradeFollow this procedure when there is no existing instance of PIM on the destinationserver, or if you are currently running PIM 5.3 or SmartZone 7.0 through 7.1.6.

As a precaution, if you are currently running PIM 5.3 or SmartZone 7.0 through 7.1.6,back up the current PIM or SmartZone database.

Then back up the following folders:a. pvng\datab. pvng\discoveryresultlogc. webapps\ROOT\imagesd. conf

Note: A SmartZone upgrade sets the "Generate Search Indexes on Server Startup" flagto Yes to enable searching for any new entries that were added in the release. Reset itback to No manually after the upgrade if the SmartZone server is on schedule for peri-odic restarts as part of customer server maintenance policy.

    1. Either insert the SmartZone 9.0 Software disc (if you are installing from a disc) intothe disc drive, or mount and run the .ISO file from a convenient directory.

Note: Some PCs may have autorun disabled. If the installation Introduction screendoes not appear, use the Run application in the Startmenu to browse for the disc in thedisc drive and double-click the Launch.exe file.

  • SmartZone Software Installation Manual

    - 13 -

    2. Click Install SmartZone Software. The installation program launches. Click OK tocontinue.

    4. Read the Introduction and click Next.5. Read the End User License Agreement. When finished, click Accept to accept

    the terms. Click Next.

Note: You cannot set the RAM values below the defaults. If you set RAM values below 4GB for the Application and 2 GB for the Agent, the installer sets the values to thedefaults. However, you can set a value higher than the system RAM.

    6. The System Information window displays the total physical memory and free diskspace on the server. Click Next.

    7. At the Choose Install Sets window, you can opt to install the Web Services and theApplications on separate servers by clicking those two radio buttons. Or, you canchoose to install an additional software Agent. (See Install an Agent below fordetails.) When finished, click Next.

Note: Installing the Application, Web Services, and Database on separate serversprovides enhanced security, load-balancing, and centralized authentication.

  • SmartZone Software Installation Manual

    - 14 -

    8. The Memory Allocation window displays the total physical RAM and the amount ofmemory allocated to the Application Server and the PIM Agent . You can changethe amount of memory allocated.

If you enter a limit that is out of range, an Invalid Entry message displays.Click OK and enter a number within the range specified in the message.

    9. Read the requirements information and take the appropriate action. When all of therequirements are met, click Next.

    10. Enter the appropriate MS-SQL Server Information. This step will create a newinstance of the Microsoft SQL database for SmartZone. Choose SQL ServerAuthentication and enter the System Administrator (sa) user password. ClickNext.

Note: If you do not want to use the “sa” account, the DBA can create a SmartZone Install-ation account (for example, SZ_Install). This new login will be used for installationexactly as it was used with the “sa” account. This SZ_Install user can be dropped rightafter the installation. The way the SmartZone 7 Series works, the Role of the SZ_Installneeds to be sysadmin.

The second SQL user will connect the SmartZone Database “acmnms” to theSmartZone Server (for example, ‘SZ_Operation’). This user is created at the time ofinstallation of SmartZone through the SmartZone installation wizard. It should not be cre-ated beforehand.

The SmartZone installation creates the SZ_Operation user with Server role as ‘serverad-min’. This user is the db_owner for only the SmartZone database i.e. “acmnms”.

This user needs to exist for the full duration of SmartZone’s operation. Once the SZ_Operation is the "db_owner" of "acmnms" database, subsequent upgrades to SZ can bedone by the SZ_Operation user itself. The SZ_Install user will not be needed again.

You can use the hyphen (-) and underscore (_) characters in the Database Name. However, do not use spaces or any of the following characters in the Database Name:!@#$%^&;*()+=;?/

Panduit recommends that only experienced users attempt to change the DatabaseServer IP or Database Server Port. Contact SmartZone Technical Support for moreinformation.
