Overview of Proficy for Manufacturing Discrete

Proficy for Manufacturing Discrete OverviewProficy for Manufacturing Discrete (PfMD) is a software solution that digitizes paper-based processes inmanufacturing environments.

The application is the thick client used by administrators and factory supervisors to configure productionprocesses and requirements. PfMD is installed over the ProficyWorkflow application, and provides additionalcustomization and displays within the Workflow interface to meet complex discrete manufacturing needs.

Use PfMD to obtain the following benefits:

• Produce products faster with digitized standard operating systems.• Reduce work-in-process (WIP) inventory through better WIP visibility and management.• Achieve tighter control on quality by digitally capturing quality data, and ensuring the product is within

specification.• Streamline the supply chain by managing outsourced operations and capturing supplier quality data.• Reducewarranty costs by ensuring the product ismanufactured correctly, and compiling comprehensive

*Many systems do not use all ProficyWorkflow capabilities, so someprojectsmaymatch some specificationsin the small system column with other specifications in the medium or large system column. Choose thecolumn that more closely matches the targeted system.

**Any running workflow that is waiting for user input in a task form can be considered paused and isconsidered to be a running workflow but not an executing workflow.

PfMD Software Requirements

You must comply with the following software requirements:

• You cannot operate PfMD without Proficy Workflow. For information about installing Proficy Workflow, see the Proficy Workflow Getting Started Guide.
