Project Unique Disability Identification (UDI) Awareness launched by our Club on 03.07.2019
UDI is a Unique Disability Identification Card launched by Government of India in 2018. Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities is a project being implemented by the Government with a view of creating a National Database for Persons with Disability (PWD), and to issue them UDI Card. The project will not only encourage transparency, efficiency and ease of delivering the government benefits to the person with disabilities, but also ensure uniformity. The project will also help in stream-lining the tracking of physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, District level, State level and National level. Since the launching of this scheme in early 2018, there is no awareness in the relevant Government Departments about this scheme.
Project UDI Awareness initiated by Rotary Chandigarh Midtown on 3rd July 2019 to create awareness for the PWDs and partner with the relevant Government Departments to hold camps and register the disabled for this card.

Miyawaki Forests, first of its kind in Chandigarh to enhance Public Image of Rotary
The District Leadership gave a call to create minimum 10 Miyawaki Forests in District 3080 in Rotary Year 2019-20. Our Club took the lead in initiating this project and on 7th July 2019 in Sector 36-C, Chandigarh, as per a Japanese design whereby large plantation can be done in a small area, which we did in the city in an area of about 3000 sq. feet near the roundabout of Sectors 35 & 36, with the help of our newly formed RCC of Sustainable Society. Mr Punnet Arora and Dr Arun Bansal of RCC coordinated with Mrs Kamal Malhi of the RWA, Sector 36 and with the involvement of Rotarians were able to plant this forest.
The plantation was followed by potluck breakfast picnic. RI President Mark Maloney has wished that Rotary should ‘Compliment’ and not ‘Compete’ with the family of a Rotarian and therefore this project was executed to set a trend of involving families in Rotary Projects.
