New for 2015 is our on-line
store. If you live too far
from the Shop or just don’t
feel like venturing out into
the cold, check out our
website at
www.sewingboxquiltshop.com.
The “Products” tab lists the
kits available and the no-
tions necessary to complete
them. The on-line store
will be operational by
mid-January.
Thanks to all of you for
your patronage over the
past 3 years, and I look
forward to seeing you soon
at The Sewing Box!
Sometimes it’s hard to see something
positive about snow, freezing rain, ice,
and frigid temperatures. Here are
some things I decided were positive
and should be part of my daily focus:
the shortest day of sunshine is now
behind us; in less than 90 days we’ll
likely see daffodils peaking through
the ground; life is a slower pace so
there may be time for a book or puz-
zle; and winter has always been my
favorite time to finish projects in my
sewing room. It’s also a great time to
plan quilt projects for 2015. As a fel-
low quilter, homemade gift are likely
at the top of your mind.
Recently I hosted a joint birthday
party for my great nieces and pre-
sented them with quilts. Pictured
Positive things about winter? here is my niece, Grace; and my
six great-nieces, McKenzie, Addi-
son, Olivia, Emily, Tegan, and
Gabrielle. The girls and their
mothers were all thrilled with the
quilts. It’s so rewarding to bless
others with this obsession of
ours!
At The Sewing Box we’ve been
busy getting things changed up
for Spring. There are new sam-
ples and new fabrics that are sure

Moda has launched the Piece

2015. The de-
tails and entry
form can be

Also from Moda’s Primitive
Gatherings is their new
Lakeside Gatherings. It
features yarn
dyed wovens,
traditional
cottons, and a
great nautical
pattern. Continuing in the
nautical theme, Sweetwater
(a Moda designer) has Set
Sail with The Boat House
collection. The pattern and
fabric are sure to get you
thinking of warmer weather!
From StudioE Pepper Cot-
ton is now on the shelf. The
trend toward solids is taking
a slight turn
toward tex-
tured solids.
Pepper Cot-
ton takes tones of a specific
color and weaves them to
create a pleasing take on sol-
ids. It’s available on the bolt
and in fat quarter bundles.
Quilting Treasure’s new line
Expressions of Faith is
here just in time for a spring
project.

Pressing Matters!, to quote a stu-
dent during one of our classes.
Many of you have been “sold” on
the amazing features of the
“Steady Betty”. The double-sided
pressing surface now has a new
look with de-
signer trim.
The smallest
size, 6” x 12”,
is in stock now
in the new
look.
Also new to The Sewing Box is the
Tuscany Collection poly batting.
Several
customers
have tried
it and have
given it a
five-star
rating. For the hand quilter
poly batting is the traditional
preference. Next time you’re
in the market, try Tuscany
and see for yourself.
Shabby Fabrics is becoming
well known
for their
“Patchwork”
pattern series.
Nothing
screams
spring like a
pansy peaking
through the ground. The
pattern and kit are available
now.
The Peanuts fabric book
“Tips from the Gang” is the
newest addition to our
library. Little ones just love
these soft books
that can be
chewed, bent,
sat on, and then
washed to look like new.
This may be the scene out
your back door; it sure is pos-
sible out my back door. From
RJR Fabrics, Evening Stroll is
a pre-packaged kit designed by
Dan Morris and includes
everything to make the top
and binding.
