The water ABN f r a c t i o n wa s a n a l y z e d a s a m e d i u m c o n c e n t r a t i o ns a m p l e , and i t a p p e a r s that t h e r e s u l t i n g d e t e c t i o n l i m i t s a r e much h i g h e r thana n y c o n t a m i n a n t c o n c e n t r a t i o n . C o m p a r a t i v e l y , t h e water s a m p l e f r o m l a g o o n 6 ,s t a t i o n 18, was a n a l y z e d as a low c o n c e n t r a t i o n s a m p l e and PNAs, a l k a n e s andunknowns were a l l d e t e c t e d i n t h e A B N f r a c t i o n . A c i d s u r r o g a t e r e cover i e s werevery l o w b o t h i n t h e o r i g i n a l a n a l y s i s a n d i n t h e r e a n a l y s i s o f t h e s a m p l e ,t h e r e f o r e the p r e s e n c e or absence o f p e n t a c h l o r o p h e n o l in the s a m p l e cannot bed e t e r m i n e d . N o v o l a t i l e s were d e t e c t e d i n e i t h e r o f t h e water s a m p l e s f r o ms t a t i o n s 15 and 18. T h e e i g h t H S L P N A s d e t e c t e d i n s t a t i o n s 1 4a n d 1 6 ( p e n t a c h l o r p p h e n o l , a l k a n e s a n d s u b s t i t u t e d n a p h t h a l e n e s ) were a l ld e t e c t e d in t h i s s a m p l e . E t h y l benzene and x y l e n e were a l s o d e t e c t e d . The ABNf r a c t i o n w a s d i l u t e d a n d t h e s u r r o g a t e s p i k e recovery w a s l o s t , t h u s i t i sp r o b a b l y best t o c o n s i d e r th e r e p o r t e d c o n c e n t r a t i o n s a s e s t i m a t e s . Both th eo i l a n d water s a m p l e s f r o m M W 3 S c o n t a i n e d h e x a , h e p t a a n d o c ta c h l o r o f u r a n s a n dc h l o r o d i o x i n s . T h e o i l s a m p l e showed t h e h i g h e s t c o n c e n t r a t i o n s o fc h l o r o f u r a n s a n d c h l o r o d i o x i n s o f a l l s a m p l e s a n a l y z e d .G r o u p 3 C :C o n c e n t r a t i o n s o f x j r o n a n d m a n g a n e s e j e x c e e d e d d r i n k i n g water c r i t e r i a i n b o t ht h e N i e l e y ( s t a t i o n 1 0 ) a n d M a r c u m ( s t a t i o n 0 9 ) r e s i d e n t i a l w e l l s . M e t a l sc o n c e n t r a t i o n s i n t h e N i e l e y w e l l were l ower t h a n i n t h e M a r c u m w e l l , howevert h i s may be due to d i f f e r e n c e s in c o n s t r u c t i o n and in w e l l d e p t h . Nos i g n i f i c a n t o r g a n i c s were d e t e c t e d i n e i t h e r w e l l ; however, poor ac id s u r r o g a t es p i k e r e cover i e s i n b o th s a m p l e s l i m i t t h e d a t a .The d a t a show t h a t c o n t a m i n a t i o n i s m i g r a t i n g f r o m th e s i t e by bo th s u r f a c e andg r o u n d w a t e r p a t h w a y s a s e v i d e n c e d b y t h e c o n t a m i n a t i o n p r e s e n t i n s a m p l e s f r o ms t a t i o n s 06 , 14 , and 16 . O R G A N I C S A M P L E S F C 1 1 3 T H R U F C 1 3 1 :V G A - V O A s i n a l l s a m p l e s were a n a l y z e d u s i n g l o w c o n c e n t r a t i o n p r o t o c o l s .S a m p l e h o l d i n g t i m e s , i n s t r u m e n t t u n i n g a n d s u r r o g a t e s p i k e r e cover i e s were a l la c c e p t a b l e . S P C C a n d C C C c r i t e r i a i n t h e c a l i b r a t i o n check s a m p l e s werea c c e p t a b l e , i n d i c a t i n g a c c e p t a b l e i n s t r u m e n t p e r f o r m a n c e . Ita p p e a r s t h a t the poor p r e c i s i o n i n d i c a t e d by the d u p l i c a t e i s due to errors bythe lab in s p i k i n g o f the two s a m p l e s because recoveries were c o n s i s t e n t l y above110% in the MS and b e l o w 90% in the MSD.In the s o i l s a m p l e , 2 o f the 5 s p i k e recoveries were s l i g h t l y above QA l i m i t sand th e o v e r a l l r e s u l t s ar e c o n s i d e r e d p r o v i s i o n a l . D u p l i c a t e d a t a werea c c e p t a b l e .P e s t i c i d e s - A l l s a m p l e s e x c ep t F C 1 2 8 a n d 1 2 9 were a n a l y z e d u s i n g l o wc o n c e n t r a t i o n p r o t o c o l s . F C 1 2 8 and 129 were a n a l y z e d as m e d i u m c o n c e n t r a t i o ns a m p l e s . H o l d i n g t i m e s , i n s t r u m e n t p e r f o r m a n c e , c a l i b r a t i o n a n d b l a n k a n a l y s i swere a l l a c c e p t a b l e .
