THINK OUTSIDE OF THE SQUARE WITH MICROHIRE AT THE BRISBANE MARRIOTT

Page 5: Insight - October 2014

With its stylish architecture and elegant spaces, the Brisbane Marriott is a unique skyscraper hotel with gorgeous views of the City skyline and Brisbane River. The famous dome design atop the tower is to mimic that of the nearby heritage listed Customs House. Offering 5 star luxuries at every turn the hotel offers 720 square metres of flexible meeting and event spaces - including 8 breakout rooms where event organisers can take their delegates to the absolute lap of luxury.

When considering a suitable in-house Audio & Visual provider the key agenda for the hotel was to find a provider offering

a point of difference, one with the ability to think outside of the square. Microhire ticked all of the relevant boxes offering advanced technologies in line with today’s technologically savvy delegate along with a high level of service in line with a 5 star venue.

With seamlessly integrated automation technology, High Definition projection systems and the latest in large format (85”) 4K LCD/LED touch screen technologies in the meeting rooms, experience the difference with Microhire at the Brisbane Marriott.

QUEENSLAND TOURISM AWARDSAT ROYAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE

With over 850 Tourism industry professionals, the excitement was palpable for the Queensland Tourism Industry Council’s annual awards at Royal International Convention Centre (RICC). In a space this large we had to feature a dramatic wide screen blend utilising 20k Christie projectors from our in-house inventory. To spice the event up, between award presentations, guests were interviewed from the floor live to screen interspersed with highlight packages of the year from Microhire’s series of HD cameras.

The entertainment for the evening was a sneak peek from the 75 cast members of Richard O’Brien’s ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ ahead of their performance at Queensland Performing Art Cen-tre (QPAC). The ceiling mounted lighting grid even played a dramatic part in the performance, as the in-house team at Microhire lowered it to 6m during the intro of the song, to add that extra touch of ex-citement to the classic hit “Time Warp”.

Ronald McDonald’s House Charities® (RMHC®) have been working hard to make the lives of seriously ill children and their families easier by providing a wide range of programs to assist in their road to recovery. To fund these programs, fundraising is necessary and through the annual RMHC Victoria Ball’s efforts, families across the State receive much needed assistance from the organisation.

Microhire had the privilege of working with RMHC® when they held their Annual Ball at the Palladium at Crown, hosting over 1000 guests. The event brief called for an innovative approach to the evening with the latest in technology and outstanding technical delivery.

In answering the brief Microhire turned the event to the west wall of Crown’s Palladium

Ballroom and produced a dynamic show built around customised wide screen blend imagery and a long list of talent produced in partnership with Instinct Entertainment. One of the highlights of the evening was the introduction of Microhire’s latest technology – the Analogway new LiveCore™ series Ascender 32 Switcher and the impact provided was exceptional with the ability to handle all of the screens in the room independently for a mix of ‘live action’ from the stages to complex themed video content created in-house for the event.

When the client didn’t want the ordinary and the predictable they turned to Microhire to create a design that bought everyone in the room into the action.

WALKLEY AWARDS

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM

Walkley Awards

012

Page 13: Insight - October 2014

The only story of the night involved the media industry’s night of nights, celebrating Excellence in Journalism at the Walkley Awards held at the Royal International Convention Centre (RICC).

Microhire’ 18.3m Blend Screen flanked the stage with live and produced content with a customised stage wash replicating a ‘TV studio’ look and feel. The ABC broadcast the event nationally with the addition of a bird’s eye view on the celebration from cameras mounted on RICC’s ceiling Grid that gave a new perspective on this event for the viewers at home.

The balance of the space was illuminated with Gobo effects specially created to coordinate with the pattern featured on the Walkley Awards 2013 invitations, adding texture to the walls and amazing colour effect that enhanced the overall appearance of the room and gave a fresh modern feel to the event.

The Walkley Foundation celebrates Australian journalism and the organisation has supported the industry for 58 years. The 59th Walkley Awards will be held in Sydney on Thursday December 4, 2014

ANALOGWAY

Analog Way

With an increased exposure to wide screen blends and multiple destinations Microhire looked to the market place to find the newest product that would provide a definitive return on investment not only for the company but our growing customer base that requires the delivery of events on a larger dynamic platform.

Our research bought us to the range of high end vision switchers offered to the market place by the France based vision specialists, Analog Way. Microhire’s purchase and use of the LiveCore™-based processor, Ascender and its control surface module the Vertige was a worlds first purchase and was launched at the DEECD event at Crown Palladium and then on the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Silver Lining Ball (again at Palladium).

The use of this system provides our technicians the ability to review multiple screens before they go live as well as increased processing for complex content delivery. The ability to be able to blend either in the field of projection and/or LED gives Microhire a definitive advantage in terms of cost to client, labour and timeframes in creating large multi layered ‘visionscapes’.

The Ascender also assists your presenters with its inbuilt ‘live’ Confidence monitor – giving you a multiscreen preview (1-4 live presentations), the presenters will be able to monitor the flow of their presentation, helping to keep your event running smoothly.

From a technical side the Analog Way systems offer an inbuilt redundancy capability that removes a large proportion of the risk in running multi-layered ‘Live’ content to screen either as an array of individual screens in a venue to a building projection or wide screen blend. Mixing webstream’s, live camera sources, pre built multi-layered content and computer feeds is no issue with the Acsender being able to take in feeds from up to 42 sources shared across its signature 12 input groups.

Speak with the team at Microhire about the use of the Analog Way’s Ascender™ system and the Vertige™ Control Surface.

Your event deserves the latest technology.
