The week’s Hornet Spotlight also illuminates on Brett Bailey. After Brett graduates, he plans on going to
Georgia Tech to major in Mechanical Engineering. In 5 years, he would like to be in a high paying career so he can use his money to help his family who has al-
ways been so supportive of him. Brett said it feels great to have his hard work recognized in the Buzz spotlight. He says the best thing about this school is the friendly atmosphere that encourages positive
learning, and he enjoys being a hornet. “There is no other high school I would rather
attend.” Brett’s advice to underclassmen is a motto he lives by daily and is evident in
his GPA at PHS—”Work hard and never give up!” It is evident Brett has a very
bright future ahead of him!
This week’s Hornet spotlight lights up on Hannah Pollock! Hannah says she plans on going to college
and getting a PhD in psychology, but she knows there is a possi-
bility that could change. In 5 years she sees herself still in collage with her new friends and
hopefully the love of her life, because “Lord
knows, he is not down here.” Hannah believes the
best aspect of PHS is the administration. “It’s nice going to a school that you know they try to get to know the students.” Hannah loves being a Hornet! “I
know we don’t always win, but we have the best school spirit.” Her advice to everyone is, “If there is one thing high school has taught me, it’s that minds
change, people change, and we have to learn the change. Friends come and go, and you can’t please everyone. So, at the end of the day make sure you are happy with who you are.”

4-H Archery Competition
Mitchell County’s 4-H archery team held an archery competition
on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the 4-H office. Cameron Soloman, Pamela Halliday, Kasey Gossett,
and John Gossett competed in the senior division against high school students from Lowndes, Decatar, Grady, and Terrell Coun-
ties who participate in the archery program through their 4-H. The archery program also has a cloverleaf
division for students in fifth and sixth
grade, and a junior division for sev-enth and eighth grade students who competed. Cameron Soloman, Pame-
la Halliday, and Kasey Gossett placed third in the senior team division. On May 3rd, they will go up to Rock
Eagle to compete in the state archery competition.

Congratulations to Mr. Owens for the Buzz’s choice of Best Dressed male teacher of this week, and con-
gratulations to Mrs. Prothro for the Best Dressed female teacher of this week !
Taylor Carroll and Morgan Montgomery have been best friends since the 7th grade. The way they became best friends is crazy! They were dating
the same guy and did not even know it! The most memorable moment they have ever had was when they met a professional bull rider in
Perry, GA and went out to eat with him after-wards. Taylor believes that the most unique thing about Morgan is she does not get embar-rassed easily. Morgan says Taylor’s truck
makes her unique because she drives a truck bigger then any guy at PHS. In their spare time they enjoy going to Zaxby’s and eating frozen
yogurt. Taylor and Morgan plan on going to college together and do not plan on ever splitting up. As close as these two are, we have no doubt they will remain best friends for years to
come. Good Luck to you both as you leave PHS and pursue your dreams!

PHS Sports
Pelham Hornets are working down to their final games! They had a home game Friday against Thomas-ville, but it was a hard loss. They also held a Little League Night on Friday 11, 2014 where the little
league players were invited. The Hornets went to their positions with the little league players for the National Anthem and then ran bases after the game to draw interest for the PHS baseball program. Saturday, was a double header against Montgomery. PHS lost the first, and won the second. Wednesday,
April 16th, they played Cook County in Adel; sadly, they were defeated. PHS will be back in action today at home against Brooks County. Good Luck!
