The spring is on it’s way to us. But before we go through

the long wet winter, we will have to remember how nice the spring season is here in Spring, Texas. Cool but not too cold, warm but not too hot. Perfect weather for setting outside and stitching. Next national market will be March 4 – 7, 2017. There will be lots of “new” items arriving shortly afterward. Come by and put your name on a list for us to reserve one just for you. 1 pkg. frozen warm-and-serve butter dinner rolls 1 Tbsp. butter, melted ¼ c. sugar Rind of one lemon grated Citrus Glaze: 2 tsp. melted butter ¼ c. confectioners’ sugar 2 Tbsp. lemon juice

Pr e h e at oven to 350 degrees. Remove frozen rolls from pan and dip into melted butter; place rolls back into pan.



In a small bowl, combine sugar and lemon rind; sprinkle on top of buttered rolls. Bake for 15 minutes, remove from pan and place on serving plate. In a small bowl, combine all glaze ingredents and stir until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve.

Stitching Tip: Twisted-Cording To determine the amount of floss needed, multiply by three the desired length of the cording, making sure to include any length needed for hangers when finishing ornaments. Place all lengths of floss together and tie a knot in each end. Slip one knotted end of floss onto hook of cording drill. Slip other knotted end over a small knob. Pull drill so that floss is taut. Operate drill in a forward direction. Floss will begin to twist. Continue twisting until floss is very tightly twisted and is about to twist up on itself. Carefully remove knotted end from drill hook, being extremely careful not to let go of end and keeping twisted floss taut. Place hook of cording drill in center of length of twisted floss and place knotted end on knob, still keeping floss taut. Operate drill in a reverse direction until desired twist for cordng is achieved. Remove drill. Remove ends from knob and secure with another knot.

stitch. You can learn – they can learn making it fun for both. In class, students ask questions and get answers. All of us learn together. Classes must be paid at the time of reservation. If you need to cancel a class, we must be notified 48 hours prior to the date to receive store credit. Should you need a private class, call for an appointment. Tuesday, January 10 and 24, February 7 and 21, March 7 and 21, 2017 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM ($98.60) Have you ever made Hardanger Tray Liners? Here is your chance to learn? This class will meet twice a month until the project is finished. Well perhaps not that long. Some of you are a little faster than others. The linen has been hand dyed for this project so it is one of a kind using both #8 and #12 Perle Cotton threads to make this



beautiful Hardanger piece. Learn why it is always so important to know where the tip of the scissors are located when doing Hardanger. Sampler Club! Thursday, January 12, February 9, and March 9 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM ($70) In the next three months, we will be making small pieces reflecting time gone by. The first piece will be a hornbook designed especially for this class. Hornbooks were very popular in school long ago. What better way to learn how needlework really got started than to join this Sampler Club with the different pieces we have planned for your learning pleasure and enjoyment. What a way to stitch and visit with your fellow stitcher friends while learning new stitches. Fiber Club! Tuesday, January 17, February 14, and March 14 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM OR Thursday, January 19, February 16, and March 16 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM ($100 deposit) Once again we will are having a day class and an evening Fiber Club class. We will be working on a patiotic piece with fireworks bursting, flags waving, and sparklers

shining. Lots of bling with metallic threads and beads will be included. This hand d yed 28 Ct. fabric was selected for this stitched piece. The piece can be finished in different ways – such as a wall hanging, framed piece, pillow, or table cover. The class model will be finished in an acrylic serving tray. Stitch and Finish Club! Want to learn how to stitch a bisconu this month? Next month you can sign up and attend the finishing part of this project if you wish. This Pastels & Bunnies project is a bright and happy piece which will make you smile and look forward to the spring weather ahead. There are numerous spring colors of DMC thread in this piece. Meet people who enjoy your same interest and have a Saturday morning full of fun. You learn how to tell the difference between the publisher and designer of a chart. Information that is needed when you ask us to order a chart just for you. If it is in print, we can order the book. Learn techniques of stitching. Not only will we be covering the how to start and stop techniques, we will be showing you different ways to end your thread securely. How to read the charts and answer any questions you might have. “Thanks To The Brave” by Erica Michael will b e stitched now and finished on a 7 ½ x 7 ½ box in April. The piece is stitched on 28 Ct. Natural Linen using Weeks Dye Works threads of red, white, and blue.

remember we can always change threads or fabric to your needs. “Let’s Gallop” is a horse with all the words inside like mane, palamino, mare, stallion, blue ribbon show, riding gear, and etc. If you are a horse lover, this is a must for you. Model also stitched on 14 Ct. White Aida with lots of DMC threads. “Let’s Be Frozen” is a snow globe perfect for those cold winter months around or perhaps it would be good for the holiday season. Lila’s Studio is “Snow Garden” has three perfect snowmen all in a

row with white snowflakes everywhere. “All is Calm” has animals everywhere with a tree and border around the outside. Model is stitched on 40 Ct. Raw Newcastle fabric with DMC and Gentle Art Sampler and Shaker threads.

NeedleWorkPress has “What Time Is It? Sampler Time” which fits on a stand up Tim Holtz clock frame when stitched over one thread on 28 or 30 Ct. Linen. Classic Colorworks and a conversion of DMC threads are both used. Kit & Bixby have “Really Friendly Cats” with the saying “Home is Wherever Your Cat is”. It was stitched on both 14 Ct. and 28 Ct. White Fabric using DMC and Gentle Art Sampler Threads.

Summer House have both “Fox and Squirrel” in a collection of eight charts in the series. They are celebrating hooked rug motifs using Gentle Art Sampler



Threads.

Plum Street Samplers has “Autumn Ewe”

with lots of pumpkins and sheep. “Siren Cove” with merimaids, a whale, and lots of flowers. “Turkey Bay” with a ship and turkeys flooting in the water. “Olga’s Autumn Stocking” has a cat with lots of pumpkins and fall leaves.

Heart In Hand has “Alfred” the cutiest snowman with two little red birds on the top of his hat and a black crow at his feet. “Winter” has Frosty White with an igloo and a penguin inside. With Thy Needle & Thread has “Oktober Feast” for the cutiest squirrel ever. It sets on the top of a small round stool and is decorated with pom pom trim. The floss bow was made stiff by running it over bees wax. “Christmas Tea” is perfect with the two mice. Start it now and be ready for the holidays next year.

The 3 XXX Rated Stitchers group meet on the first Thursday evening of the month.

What a way to rest after a long day. Whether it is after work or after a l ong day at home with your duties, you will enjoy the evening. There is no charge to attend this event. One lady calls it “free stitching night” in fact. It is a great opportunity to sit



with others and stitch and get those questions answered. The shop is always open during this time.
