We expe- rienced a summer full of planning for a fall start that would be unlike any other we have seen in our history. Each department and division had challenges to overcome, but we all had the same goal: to provide great service to all students, component districts, and each other while maintaining the highest levels of safety. As fall hit, I observed our team dig in, follow plans to the best of their abilities, and adjust as needed. I’ve said it before, but I continue to be impressed by our flex- ibility and creativity in finding solutions as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic as a team. As we wrap up the fall season and move toward the winter season, our goals remain much the same. I en- courage each of you to continue to keep safety in mind as we head toward the holiday season. Continue to wash your hands, wear a mask, and practice social distancing. With that being said, I also encourage you to find ways to appropriately enjoy time with your family and loved ones. Meaningful connection is so important, and I hope that you are each able to find some. After all, our ability to provide the service that we are committed to requires a healthy, happy, and fulfilled staff. Please enjoy the latest edition of Inside BOCES and stay safe!

District Superintendent, Scott Payne

Since our last newsletter, life at CA BOCES has been interesting to say the least. We expe-rienced a summer full of planning for a fall start that would be unlike any other we have

seen in our history. Each department and division had challenges to overcome, but we all had the same goal: to provide great service to all students, component districts, and each other while maintaining the highest levels of safety. As fall hit, I observed our team dig in, follow plans to the best of their abilities, and adjust as needed. I’ve said it before, but I continue to be impressed by our flex-ibility and creativity in finding solutions as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic as a team. As we wrap up the fall season and move toward the winter season, our goals remain much the same. I en-courage each of you to continue to keep safety in mind as we head toward the holiday season. CA BOCES Print Shop

44Core Values: to have highly satisfied customers, to treat all individuals with respect,

to provide an environment that supports innovation and risk.

Now, That’s a Wrap! Congratulations to Print Shop team member, Kim Survil, who recently designed the largest piece of her career! This newest creation from the #CABOCES Print Shop is a 56 foot, interactive mural at Allegany-Limestone Central School District! The character-trait-themed mural was designed by Kim with some assistance from Allegany-Limestone staff members. For an added bonus in the piece - students will be busy looking for hidden gators that were strategically placed throughout! Nice work, Kim!

New Faces in ISS Instructional Support Services

Rebecca Feightner is the Librarian for Scio and Belfast Central School Districts. She lives in Bradford, Pennsylvania with her husband, Fred, and her children, stepdaughter Olivia, who is a Junior at Pitt-Bradford, and Brendan, 15 and Evan 13. Her winter weekends are filled with road trips throughout Western New York carting the boys to hockey games and tournaments. She is also periodically active in local theatre in Bradford and Olean. She also enjoys her “Not Yet Old

Ladies Book Club” that meets once a month. Currently they are reading Jason Reynolds’ All American Boys.

Caroline Mapes is the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Teacher for Scio and Bolivar-Richburg School Districts. She lives in Belmont, NY, with her husband and pets. She loves to read, knit, sew and try out new recipes, so teaching Family and Consumer Science (FACS) was a dream come true for her. Her background is in Food Science, so she loves to connect the dots between what students already know about science and what they are

learning about food. She taught FACS at Bolivar-Richburg last year and is extremely excited to be working at Bolivar-Richburg and Scio this year as a CABOCES ISS itinerant teacher.

Marissa Perez is the Music Teacher for Friendship and Whitesville Central School Districts. She graduated from Houghton College with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 2018 and then again this past May with a degree in Instrumental Conducting. During her master’s work she served as an assistant conductor, tour coordinator, and music theory fundamentals instructor. Although an oboist by trade, she thoroughly enjoys both the instrumental and choral sides of music. In her spare time she likes to read, paint, run, make music, and go on adventures. She is excited to begin her career with CABOCES and has enjoyed working with her students these past two months.
