Inside Faith Congregational
MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF FAITH CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
OCTOBER 2018
This month is all about VISION. The last Sunday of October (the 28th) will be VISION SUNDAY. Not only will we hold our Annual Congregational Meeting on this day, we will also launch our 5-Year Vision for the future of Faith Church! On VISION SUNDAY, we will walk through the process your leadership has taken to construct our 5-Year Vision, and we will begin to work together as a church to set our own goals in the programs, ministries, small groups, and individual lives of Faith Church.
Our 5-Year Vision is focused on “growth.” Our motto will be “Growing Together in Faith.” Our hope and determination is that our church will grow in many ways, numerically and spirituality. The pillars of our vision are “Inviting New People to Faith” and “Growing in our Relationship with Christ.”
Inviting New People to Faith
We will actively share our faith with others by engaging in Conversations about Faith and Inviting People, of all ages, to experience life as a Christian and life in our Church. We will also connect with our community through Community Activities and Church Marketing. Conversations about faith mean sharing with AND listening to people about how God is already moving in our lives. When the opportunities present themselves, conversations can then become invitations to events, small groups, or worship services at Faith Church. Getting to know our PSL neighbors and raising community awareness of Faith Church is an important part of invitation. This can take place through community activities and church marketing.
Growing in our Relationship with Christ We will create Personal Spiritual Growth Plans, that will utilize Small Groups and other Church Activities to encourage our Spiritual Growth and help us Invite New People to Faith. Mentoring will be a priority, especially for those in Leadership. When we “grow” spiritually, we examine our own relationship with Christ and his church, and we set short-term goals for ourselves that can encourage us to go deeper in our understanding, appreciation, and commitment to Christ. Everyone has room to grow spiritually!
So what about the Mission of Faith Church? Actually, our 5-Year Vision will help us to accomplish the Mission of Faith Church. We say every Sunday, “Our mission is to express God’s love to all, invite others to know Jesus, and make faithful disciples.” Since I arrived at Faith Church (four years ago this month...can you believe it?), I have been to be impressed with the LOVE that the members of Faith Church share with one another and with people in our community. However, I have also noticed that we can use some work in the other two areas of our mission. That’s where our 5-Year Vision can help us!
Our 5-Year Vision will help us know exactly how we can “invite others to know Jesus.” It’s through conversations about Faith and invitations to events, small groups, or worship services at Faith Church. How can we spread the invitation into our community? Through community activities and church marketing.
Our 5-Year Vision will also help know exactly how to “make faithful disciples.” In order to MAKE disciples we have to BE disciples. Our vision to have Personal Spiritual Growth Plans will help us to strengthen our own discipleship and then be able to share with others exactly what has encouraged our own spiritual growth. The vision to add more Small Group opportunities and the emphasis on mentorship will also help us to make and to become growing disciples of Christ.
I’m so excited about our past, our present, and our future at Faith Church. I would ask that you join me in praying that this month we be renewed in our understanding of how God has led us in the past, how God is with us today, and how God is taking us into a bright future! A future where we are “Growing Together in Faith.”
