Introduction & OverviewLocal Partners Capacity Building Project (LPCB)– Project Dates: May 2008 – June 2013– Location: Zambia, nationwide– Goal: Improve overall capacity of selected local organizations to ensure

efficient and effective expansion of their programs so that quality HIV/AIDS services are delivered in Zambia.

– Partners: 107 organizations, 3 capacity leaders

Enhancing Nigerian Capacity for AIDS Prevention (ENCAP) Project– Project Dates: April 2010 – April 2015– Location: Nigeria: FCT, Bayelsa, Benue, Ebonyi, Rivers, Taraba– Goal: to facilitate behaviors that will decrease HIV transmission in Bayelsa,

Rivers, Benue, Taraba, and Ebonyi states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

– Partners: 25 organizations

Unique Characteristics of LPCB/ENCAP Model

– Sustainability: Develop capabilities and expertise of local Capacity Leader (CL) organizations and individual organization development facilitators (IODF) to become sustainable institutional strengthening service providers for local organizations; strengthen collaboration between partners and government

– Active engagement: Annual self assessment tool leads to individualized improvement plan with appropriate goals, fostering ownership and accountability, tracking of progress

– Capacitated grant management: Partners trained in OD and HIV technical topics prior to competing for grants; better able to successfully manage grants and implement improved HIV services

– Graduation categories: Graduation, Completion, Participation
