CKR Consulting Engineers is a level 2 BBBEE* company and has a formal policy in place for the advancement of previously disadvantaged individuals. The programme addresses the following aspects:
- An aggressive recruitment programme for previously disadvantaged South Africans. All vacancies are preferentially filled by Previously Disadvantaged Individuals through the identification of suitably qualified individuals, or individuals who would benefit from further education and training.- Creating BBBEE through our business activities.
ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT
CKR has been involved in nurturing, advising and collaborating with BBBEE enterprises in the construction sector. These companies include electrical contracting firms and data networking companies. One of the success stories is Nala Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd.
Nala was established in January 2001, and since then has grown to become one of the leading BBBEE engineering consultancies in South Africa. It operates from offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING
- CKR has active policies and procedures in place to further the advancement of its staff members.- Training methods include ‘on the job’ experiential training, certification courses, BIM training, lighting design courses and product knowledge courses.- Bursaries are offered to University and Technicon students completing their degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering.- Learnership programmes are being offered to BBBEE candidates with a specific focus on those with disabilities.- CKR’s senior engineering personnel are registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa as formal mentors and as such they endeavor to provide support to professionally registered candidates to achieve their goals of becoming professional engineers and technicians.

BIM (BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING)
Being a leading technology driven engineering firm, CKR recognises how BIM (Building Infor-mation Modelling) improves the collaboration, coordination and communication process within the construction / building environment. With its proficiencies in leading BIM software, CKR is actively enhancing internal and external BIM processes by deploying the appropriate technology and resources to effectively execute their projects.
Our BIM services are more than just software. For CKR, BIM is a methodology. The process starts with the initial client engagement and evolves to the delivery of the project through its different stages / project life cycle, taking it from design through to construction and finally to the operation stage.
BIM CAPABILITIES
Design Review & Optimisation The process where stakeholders view a 3D model and provide their feedback to validate multiple design aspects.
Engineering Design & Analysis The process in which intelligent modelling software uses the BIM model to determine the most effective engineering method based on the design specifications.
Service Coordination A process where Clash Detection software is used during the coordination process to determine field conflicts by comparing 3D models of all building services.
Issue Reporting & Tracking A process where Field Management software is used during the construction, commissioning, and handover stages to manage, track, and report on quality of execution.
