Designers

Flemming Hoejfeldt was born in 1950 in Denmark and is the owner and CEO of In-novation. The inventive and multi-skilled entrepreneur founded the company back in 1981, where he functioned successfully as designer, engineer and production ma-nager in one. His first design was the Del-ta-bag, which in 2006 was re-launched as the Player beanbag. Today he has speciali-sed staff, but as a truly autodidact person, Flemming Hoejfeldt still keeps an eye on every step of the process at Innovation, and is happy to take the challenge, whene-ver obstacles occur. He keeps his feet on the ground and yet never misses a good opportunity to develop design or business. Flemming Hoejfeldt is the driving power behind the worldwide expansion of Inno-vation as well as several good design ideas.

Jerry Yang was born in1968 in China. He is the president of Beijing Innovation. He studied in Denmark and graduated from Roskilde University. In 1998 he returned to China and established Beijing Innovati-on Furniture co.Ltd.

Oliver Weiss Krogh was born in Denmark in 1990 and is the son of Per Weiss. Oliver Weiss Krogh is currently a third year ba-chelor student in industrial design at De-sign School Kolding. Besides studying he has established his own design company, Nordic Works, which provides industrial design, 3D visualizations and graphic works. Oliver Weiss Krogh believes in de-signing great and carefully thought out commercial products that will make a difference for the end user. The product has to be functional, meaningful and en-vironmentally responsible to be intere-sting.

Andreas Lund was born in 1969 in Den-mark. At Innovation he has contributed to the design process of the popular sofa beds Wing and Puzzle. He started his care-er as an organ builder before he studied at the Danish School of Design, where he gra-duated in 2000. Thanks to his talent, An-dreas Lund has been rewarded with nume-rous design funds and prizes. With his own company, Format Design, he has created both furniture and product design for se-veral Danish companies and participated in various exhibitions. Today he is more-over teaching at the Danish School of De-sign and the School of Architecture in Copenhagen.

Per Weiss was born in 1959 in Denmark and is the Director of Innovation Design Office International. As an all-round creative person, he started his career as a professional musician, while already studying at the School of Architecture in Aarhus. Then giving a higher priority to his design visions, he worked for some of the famous Danish architects, Friis & Moltke and Schmidt, Hammer & Lassen. In 1988 he graduated as an industrial designer. Since 1989 Per Weiss has been the head of Innovation Design Office and responsible for concept, product design and marketing. Per Weiss established a close relationship to Verner Panton during the devoplment of the Phantom chair, Panto Beam, andPanto Pop in 1997-1998. Alongside his works for Innovation Per Weiss co operated with Danish designer Henrik Bönnelycke in their mutual company W&B design works 1997-2000. In 2001 he founded WeissDesignWorks, where he handles product designs that do not fit into the Innovation product range.

The Design Team Good aesthetic design must go hand in hand with great functionality and good comfort. Therefore, our team of designers, product de-velopers and technical brains work together to integrate it all in every single Innovation product.

The Danish designer, Per Weiss, is head of the design department. He has been part of the company since 1989 and is the driving force behind the constant creative development of the collections. Inspired by a Scandina-vian design tradition as well as fashion and lifestyle trends, he creates long-lasting design with a contemporary appeal.

HistoryIt all started in 1971 with a good idea in the spirit of the #ower power generation - beanbags. The founder, Flemming Højfeldt, started a production of Delta beanbags – re-launched in 2006 as the Player beanbag. The small company grew quickly, and as #ower power was taken over by the yuppie style, Innovation moved on to upholstery furniture as a sub-supplier to other companies.

At the end of the 80ies Innovation was ready for a new adventure. We wanted to produce our own design and launched a competition asking for fashionable and functional sofa bed concepts. The best idea was inspired by old eastern traditions: Natural cotton based mattresses that were #exible enough for multifunctional furniture. One Room Living aka ORL Collection was born.

Innovation expanded with an associated company in the USA in 1991, followed up in 1998 with a Chinese o$ce and factory.

With a greater larger production capacity, more collections were made possible. Having production in both China and Denmark adds #exibility which gives us a unique opportuni-ty to meet market demands. Mutual inspira-tion and exchange of experience, not at least internationally, assures a constant evolve-ment and front position of our company.

A Better Environment

Not only our design, but also our company values have a clear vision for the future. Inno-vation has a certi!ed environmental pro!le, and all recyclable waste, like cardboard, plastic, iron and metal, is separated and used in other productions. Residual, combustible waste is incinerated in low-pollution plants. Packaging is reduced to the minimum need-ed for safe transportation.
