Location, location, location...Step outside and the scenery will take your breath away. Whether you are here for walking, touring or just relaxing there is something for everyone. Many of the Lake District’s most famous walks have their starting points around Ullswater and they all lead through stunning countryside, where discoveries await – from cascading waterfalls to wild red deer and the occasional red squirrel.

There is an abundance of different activities for all ages nearby, such as rock climbing, pony trekking, mountain biking and fishing. In the hotel’s leisure suite you can exercise in the small gym or unwind in the sauna and jacuzzi.

Local sailing instructors offer a wide variety of sailing options from a trip across the lake to a deserted beach with a picnic (and of course he will pick you up later!), an hour long leisure sail, or 2 – 5 day courses for sailing instruction at any level.

If you prefer something a little more relaxed, then the Ullswater steamers, just 5 minutes walk from the hotel, provide an alternative mode of transport around the lake.

The hotel is only 12 miles from J40 on the M6. From the motorway, exit onto the A66 towards Keswick. At the first roundabout, by the Rheged Discovery Centre, take the A592 towards Ullswater and then follow the shoreline of Lake Ullswater to Glenridding village.

Travelling from Windermere, take the A591 towards Ambleside and turn right at Troutbeck, following the A592 down into Glenridding.

The nearest mainline train station is Penrith.
