I Presidente Speak Welcome to Angra dos Reis! We are in one of the most beautiful places that the nature have to offer on the Brazilian cost side, the combination of mountain and ocean will created a perfect atmosphere to celebrated the 20th birthday of our Society. The program will permit the SBTE member to enjoy, at least a few, of this fantastic place. Pleasure moments during the SBTE meetings are, in my opinion, very productive. Hard to say how many scientific cooperation’s and partners started during our meetings! During the event we will remember the evolution and good moments of our Society. The SBTE history was carefully reviewed by our colleague Mara Rubin, in a beautiful article that is published on this proceedings.. Mara is one of the SBTE pioneers, she was also our second President and is strongly connected with our Society during the last 20 years. The history of our Society is the history of Embryo Transfer in Brazil. You will realize how important were and are our SBTE members on the development and diffusion of technologies applied to embryos. Don’t forget to read this article! My congratulations to all the SBTE pioneers and special the members that followed all steps of SBTE development. They will be our honored. Welcome to Angra dos Reis!

We are in one of the most beautiful places that the nature have to offer on the Brazilian cost side,the combination of mountain and ocean will created a perfect atmosphere to celebrated the 20th birthdayof our Society.

The program will permit the SBTE member to enjoy, at least a few, of this fantastic place. Pleasuremoments during the SBTE meetings are, in my opinion, very productive. Hard to say how many scientificcooperation’s and partners started during our meetings!

During the event we will remember the evolution and good moments of our Society. The SBTEhistory was carefully reviewed by our colleague Mara Rubin, in a beautiful article that is published onthis proceedings..

Mara is one of the SBTE pioneers, she was also our second President and is strongly connectedwith our Society during the last 20 years.

The history of our Society is the history of Embryo Transfer in Brazil. You will realize howimportant were and are our SBTE members on the development and diffusion of technologies appliedto embryos. Don’t forget to read this article!

My congratulations to all the SBTE pioneers and special the members that followed all steps ofSBTE development. They will be our honored.

SBTE had in 1985 around 40 members today we are around 600.Our size is also a picture ofEmbryo Transfer in Brazil, in 1992 15 thousand ET were performed yearly today we performed closeto 150 thousand ET yearly. Our Society is big today in several aspects: we are today the BrazilianSociety with the largest number of Veterinarians and our meeting the second of the world on EmbryoTechnology area on number of papers and participants.

This year we received a record number of papers to be published (300), it is the double than theaverage of publications on our last 3 meetings and is similar with the number of papers that arepublished at IETS.

As SBTE formal President I would like to thank my wife Fernanda, that is our Scientific Director,for her care and dedication, coordinating the selection and publication of all lectures and abstracts. Sheexpended four months working full time to SBTE .
