Thepastweeksandmonthswereshapedbythemergerandtheassoci-atedchanges.
Doyouremember?Onlyfiveyearsago,inSeptember2005,wetookovertheindividualDorschsubsidiar-iesanddidthegroundworkforthesuccessoftoday’sDorschGruppe.
Wesuccessfullymanagedtodoso,asthecompletionoftheeconomicandfinancialconsolidationoftheDorschGruppeshows.
Afterthelastfiveyearsofreor-ganisation,wearenowemerginginanewphasewhichisbasedonahealthyandstablefoundation.
Themergerofthesubsidiarieswillnotonlyensurethecompany’sstabil-itybutwillalsoimprovesynergiesanddeepencooperationwithinthefirm.
Thefusionmarksthecompletionofthere-organisation.Together,wewillnowdevelopnewproductsandservicesaswellasenternewmarketssuchasVietnamandBangladesh.
Alongwithourstrongpartners,wewillbeabletoofferturnkeyprojectstoourcustomers.
LaunchingtheGreenBuildingDe-partmentinAbuDhabiinearly20�0,provedonceagainthatwedonotonlyreacttotrendsbutmovewiththetimesandsetthem.
Weareparticularlyproudtohavemaintainedtransparencyandover-sightforourcustomers,despite
havinggrownrapidlyinthepastfiveyears-nearlydoublingourturnover.Weowethistooureverpresentcontactpeople,whoarealwaysatourside.
Apartfromthefactualstrengtheningofourpre-qualificationandprojectmanagementprocesses,wealsoex-pectthemergertoimproveoursenseofteam-spirit:from“them”to“us”.

DDCDorschConsulthasrecentlyadoptedthecorporatedesignoftheDorschGruppeafterusingtheownCorporateLayoutfor20years,whichwasmainlycharacterizedbythestatecolorsofSaxony.

FortheemployeesofDorschConsultWasser&UmweltGmbH,onlythenameofthecompanytheyarework-ingforhaschanged.
Wetakeparticularprideinthefactthatnojobswereorwillbelostduetothemerger,asDorschInternation-alConsultantsGmbHenteredintotheemploymentcontractswhenthemergertookeffect.
Presentemploymentcontractswerecontinuedinvolvingallrightsanddu-ties,alsocreditingfullseniority.Thisalsoincludesanyrightsanddutieswithregardtothecompany‘spen-sionscheme,ifapplicable.
Furthermore,presentlabour-man-agementagreementsremainvalid,alsotheelectedworker‘scouncilstaysinoffice.
Theoperationalstructureandor-ganizationofthecompaniesremainalmostthesame,becauseweintendtocontinuebusinessunchanged.
InadditiontothenewStructuralEngineeringDivision,merelythebusinessunitshavebeenrestructured

andorganizedinoverallstaffunits.Asaresult,theadministrativefunc-tionshavebeenextractedfromtheoperativeunits.
Asthedivisionsandtheboardofmanagementareconsideredasclientsofthesestaffdivisions,itisintendedtorenderamoreefficientandmoretransparentservicetothem.
However,projectcontrollingisacompletenovelty.Projectcontrol-lingisconsideredtobeoneofthemostessentialtasksofcorporategovernancebythemanagementboard.

We’dalsoliketowishtheheadsofthesestaffdivisionsmuchsuccessintheneworganization.
Whatdoesthismergerimplyforourclients?Thepresentcontactpersonsforourclientswillremainunchanged.DorschInternationalConsultantsGmbHisthelegalsuc-cessoroftheaffectedsubsidiaries,soallcontractualrelationshipsarenowreferringtothenewcompany.
Hencetherewillalsobenochangesinconditionsofcontractsalreadyestablished,theDorschInternationalConsultantsGmbHwillbeliableforclaimsemergingfromexistingcontractualrelationshipsfromthetimeofthemergerandalsoretro-spectively.

forourcustomers.Inordertomakeitsustainableweneedtoimproveourinternalnetworksandtheexchangeofourideasandourknowledge.
Itisthroughthetrustintothisapproachandintoourcompany,meaningintoourcolleagues,thatwecandeveloptheconfidencethatwilltakeusfar.Thiswillallowustooffersystemssolutionsandmorecomplexprojects,whichissomethingthatDICandtheGrouparevirtuallypredes-tinedtodo.
Forexample,wedonotyetfullyutilizetheadvantagewehaveinthefieldsofsitedevelopment,regionalplanningandinallprojectsrelatedtoenvironmentalissuesthatrequirethecoordinationofallareasofexpertise.Thisalsoappliestoairportsaswellasroadandrailprojects.
Ibelievethatare-importofknow-ledgeisalsopossibleandcalledforsincewehavegainedexcellentknow-howthroughourforeignprojectsoverthecourseofthelastyears.
OtherrelevantexampleswouldbeGeographicalandManagementIn-formationSystems(GIS/MIS),Opera-tionsManagementSupport(OMS)orEnergyEfficiency.
Basedontheabove,itispossibletoconceivenewbusinessmodels,whereMr.Röder’scontactstoinvestorscouldbeveryhelpful.
AfurtherpointofimprovementisstrengtheningthecooperationwithArchitectsandCityPlanners,withwhomweneedtoworkontheinfrastructuresolutionsoftomorrow.ThecentralisedsystemsthatweknowfromGermanyareincreasinglybeingcriticisedandareexposedtoalotofcompetitivepressures,theyshouldthereforenotblindlybeenlargedorcopied.
Weurgentlyneedtoestablishrel-evantpartnershipsandalsotakepartinR&Dprojectsinordertobepartofthelead.
• AsManagingDirector,howcanyousteerthesedevelopments?
LikeImentionedbefore,thestruc-tureshavebeencreatedandtheleadershipisestablished.ThereareacoupleofgapsthatstillneedtobefilledbutIhavefullconfidenceinthecompetenceandthecapacityoftheDorschGroup.
Nowweneedtocommunicatethestrategy,providesupportalongwiththerightincentivesforthefirststepsandconvincethegroupofthisap-proach.Weare,forexample,plan-ningtocatalyseinternalcooperationthroughinternationalworkshops.
Afterthat,Iputmytrustinthemoti-vationofindividuals.Andbelieveme,sharedsuccessiscontagious!

Naturally,professionalsuccesswiththetopicsIhavediscussed.

Afixedofficeinfrastructureiscon-nectedtocoststhatneedtoappro-priateshortandlong-termreturns.
However,thisalsoneedstobeputintoperspectiveandassuchisbeingdiscussedingreatdetail.Atsomepointoneneedstobreakfreeofthisviciouscycle,whichiswhyIbelievethatonlybasingthedecisionofopeninganewofficeonacertainamountofrevenueisnotadvanta-geous.
Wealsoneedtoconsiderthattheconfidencethatwedemonstrateinamarketbyopeningapermanentpresenceisrecognisedandrewardedbycustomers.
Unfortunately,planssuchastheseoftenfailbecausewedonothave,orareunabletofind,peoplethataresuitedfortaskssuchasthese.
• DoyouseenewfieldsofactivityforDIC?
AboveallIseethenecessitytore-thinkandimproveourmarketingandouracquisitionsinordertoimproveourefficiencyandthevaluecreated
Itrustthatthebusinessareasareactivelytakingpartintheimplemen-tationofthenewphilosophy.
Thewaywearetakingrequiresthesupportofeveryoneandisnotlim-itedtothoseinleadershippositions.
Further,IwouldliketoemphasisethatIconsiderthecolleaguesatBDCandDDCaspartofthesedevelop-ments.
• WhatarethepresentandfuturechallengesforDIC?
TheconclusionsthatIhavereachedbyanalysingthemarket,thecompe-titionandwhattheseimplyforDICareverypositive,providedthatwedoourhomework.
Tobeginwithitneedstobeunder-stoodthatthereareseveralreasonsforthedecentralisedstructureoftheDorschGroup.
However,wearecurrentlynottak-ingfulladvantageofthebenefitsthatthisformoforganisationofferswhilefacingtherunningcoststhatitcauses.

IwasgrantedfurtherresponsibilityasaconsequenceofmyengagementwiththeDorschGroup.
Ihadtheprivilegeofbeinginvolvedinthe,nowcompleted,restructuringoftheorganisationanditsmanage-mentandasaresultIamconfidentthatwehavenowtakentherightstepsforthefuture.
• Whatdoyoumeanexactly?
Theconsolidationoftheformerfivecompaniesintoonecorporationshouldnotonlyberememberedasaprojectthatputseveralcolleaguesunderalotofstrainbutalsoneedstobelivedandhastodelivertheresultsthatarebeingstrivedfor.Doingsorequires“Ambassadors”andfacilita-torsthatwehavenowpositionedintherightplaces.

Serviceswereperformedincol-laborationwithHansaconsultGmbH.(responsibleforrefuelling)
Forthepreparatoryworks,identi-ficationandapprovaloffinancialresourcesthroughFederalandStateAuthoritieswasfirstobtained.Then,preparatoryworkswerecarriedout,andincludedtheconstructionofthenewheliportallowingflightsunderInstrumentFlightRules(IFR),thereroutingofpublicwastewaterandpotablewaterlinesofthecityOber-schleissheim,andtheconstructionofaGroundServiceEquipmentcompound.
Forthefirstconstructionstage,worksbeganinSept.2009andwerecompletedon-scheduleinAugust20�0.Operationsonthenewhelipadandassociatedtaxiway(whichcanbeusedsimultaneouslyasagroundandairtaxiway)begansubsequently.
MunichPublicConstructionAuthoritywiththefullprojectscopeforairsideandlandsidetrafficareas,includingplanning,design,tendering,andconstructionsupervision.TechnicalconnectionsforinfrastructureandequipmentswerealsopartofDIC’scomprehensivescopeofservices,whichincluded:
• Helipad,airandgroundtaxiways,aircraftparkingandrefuellingstands,andhelicopteraprons(pavedareastotallingapprox.27,000m²)
• Accessroads/serviceroadsandcarparkingareas
New Federal and State Police Helicopter Base Oberschleissheim
AnewheliportwillbebuiltattheexistingOberschleissheimairfield,inlieuoftheexistingsmallerheliport,withtheobjectiveofaccommodatingboththeGermanFederalPoliceandBavarianStatePoliceFlightSquadrons.Forthispurpose,thenewheliportfacilitieswillcombinemaintenanceandstoragehangarsforEC�55,EC��5,andNH90helicopterswithadministrationandworkshopareas.
Theconstructionofthenewheliportfacilitiesiscarriedoutintwocon-secutivestages,withseparatebudgetallocations.
Amongthekeyfeaturesoftheproject’splanninganddesignphase,theoptimizationofthetechni-calandfunctionalorganisationoftheGermanFederalPoliceanditshelicopteroperationswillpermittoachievesynergyeffectsthroughthecombinedfacilities.Themostimpor-tantrequirementsetfortheprojectwasfortheconsultanttoensurethatflightandmaintenanceoperationsonexistingheliportpremisescanbemaintainedthroughoutthewholeconstructionprocess.

TheengineeringconsultantemutecGmbH,whichhasitsheadquarterinNorderstedt,wasfoundedonJuly�stin2002byStefanWinterandJörgStrömmer.
Theserviceactivitiesincludereports,surveysandprofitabilitystudiesaswellasplanningandconstructionsu-pervisionintheareasofpowertech-nology,buildingservicesengineeringandenvironmentalengineering.

Thediscussionshallgivecompre-hensiveattentiontofinancingthereconstructionofthehistoricalsta-diumdedicatedtothesoccerplayerandworker’ssportsmanHeinzSteyer(*�909,+�944).
